The location is perfect, right on the hiking trail to Gocta waterfall, with a beautiful view of the falls from the property. The village is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nature. Mario is an exceptional host — he knows everything about the area and made us feel completely at home. He even made us a delicious homemade pizza with a purple corn crust — everything organic and full of flavor. We saw hummingbirds in the garden and many other beautiful birds around the property. It’s a great spot for bird lovers and nature lovers in general. If you’re coming to Cocachimba, don’t hesitate — Casa de Mario is the perfect place to stay!

The property is has only 3 cottages which adds to the feeling of already large lung spaces lush with greenery. The decor and appointment of the accommodation are authentic, aesthetically pleasing and with a marvellous attention to detail. The food is excellent at all 3 meals and the internet is reliable. The best feature of the property is the family who runs it. Carmen, Francesco, their son Leonardo and their support staff are incredible hosts and guides to the area. Amongst the many highlights is their Sauna perched on top of a hillock with a stunning view of the Cataracts. We will definitely be coming back to stay here and I highly recommend this fantastic property to all travellers, families or otherwise.

Chachapoyas Airport is 43 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. I was so disappointed we spent only one night. Sergio and Jana operate a world class retreat. Service was beyond exceptional. Jana paid attention to every detail. She organized every single part of the trip and made sure that all of our needs were met. Sergio was creative, engaging, super helpful with any of our plans and made sure that our retreat was at one with nature. There is the option to have your dinner prepared there and I would recommend it to anyone. All of the food is farm to table and much was grown on site. There are parrots that are outside the window in the morning and it is a terrific place to relax. Much of the art and ceramics were made by the hosts. They are high-quality and for those of you who can carry some home, you should. The rooms were perfectly appointed and I now want to bring my family there for an extended stay.

Kuelap is 21 km from the accommodation. Chachapoyas Airport is 38 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. The food was excellent. This hotel is close to the gondola that goes to Kuelap. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Shower was nice and hot.
