The hotel is a new one, located in the very heart of Salzburg, close to the river, you can even see the river from the hotel. Even is so central, I did not have problems with traffic, really quite room. Breakfast is really goood one, and espresso similar with italian ones. Stuff people very helpful, with all my request, even that we arrive at midnight, they guide us from the parking to the hotel, as they do not have their own parking, but is very close from the hotel. Recommend the hotel !

Our family stayed in the Hotel Haus Arenberg for a week. The hosts are very nice and kind people. The hotel is beautifully refurbished with clean, white and wooden modern uncluttered design I loved. This is how I would finish my apartment if it were up to me. We got a "suite" - an apartment with a kitchenette and a balcony that has a stunning view of the Alps. It was pleasantly spacious for the three of us, as opposed to a hotel room we normally book which then feels cramped. Here we had no problem whatsoever to put our big open suitcases on the floor and they still weren't in the way. And the price was the same as for a room elsewhere, that is why we chose this hotel. Also, the location very close to the city centre was our top reason to choose this hotel. I personally don't like hotel carpets as they are next to impossible to keep clean and free from allergens; here you have clean, new vinyl wooden-like flooring. This hotel apartment was the nicest I have stayed in in my 50 years of life. (I also appreciated the mosquito screens in the windows so you can open the windows without risking any insects flying in.). I fully recommend booking the breakfasts buffet too as you will be empowered for the day and can have lunch or dinner later in the town or so.

FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

Salzburg left a wonderful impression on me. The city radiates peace and charm, and every walk feels like a new discovery. It offers the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation. Getting around on your own is easy and convenient. I also loved the wide variety of international cuisines available, all at very reasonable prices.

Salzburg is a true tourist’s paradise—breathtaking views, warm and welcoming people, rich culture, and amazing food. We stayed for 4 nights, but it simply wasn’t enough to take it all in properly. There’s so much to see and explore—definitely worth a longer trip! Getting around Salzburg is super easy. Public transport is excellent—reliable, well-connected, and tourist-friendly. We had free mobility passes, which made it even better. If you’re driving, it’s extremely comfortable and can cover more places easily, but make sure to start early—traffic builds up as the day goes on. In addition to exploring salzburg city, we also visited nearby gems like Hallstatt, and Berchtesgaden—each one unbelievably beautiful and unique. Though we couldn’t make it to the salt mines in Hallstatt or Berchtesgaden, we did the one in Bad Dürrnberg (a short bus ride from Hallein), and it was an unforgettable 90-minute tour 1,500 meters underground—crossing from Austria into Germany and back! The Celtic village there was fascinating, and the Sommerrodelbahn turned out to be one of our favorite memories. There are absolute gems like St. Gilgen, Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, and Bad Goisern that are still on our list to explore. We’re definitely planning a return trip—Salzburg deserves at least a full week to truly experience it all.

Although there were a decent number of tourists, it wasn't too bad, and in an evening, they mostly weren't around. The city is beautiful, and with walks along the river, and trips to the New Town, or up to the castle, it was wonderful. We found everyone to be very friendly, and we certainly thought that there was plenty to see and do, and that we would need to come back again to experience the parts that we didn't get around to.
