This is a “ concept” resort idea which is brilliantly perceived by a group of actively involved family and close friends , who were drawn to the idea by a mix of history of living nearby and shared aims of wanting to achieve the establishment of an accommodation facility which reflects shared visions and a will to create something quite different from , what I gather, was previously 50 acres of partially cleared but mainly natural forest , undulating land. In order to achieve this - Trees were milled , building areas levelled , driveways established , a building containing varying types of accommodation ( couples, family , ….overnight only and also others with cooking facilities) . The meals were beautifully prepared and generous , either delivered to your room or in the ( stage 1) restaurant . The menu is limited but the quality compensates for anything we might otherwise have sought . Other points of interest There is a Forrest walking trail There are several quite separate small outside seated patio areas , where visitors seeking to be alone can gather and enjoy the lovely surrounds and solitude of this area , including a huge adjacent olive grove , the forest , the fenced off garden ( fenced to ward off invasive wildlife including a mix of the usual suspects like possums and hungry birds but also wild deer 🦌) . The owners / managers are themselves interested and interesting people who openly discuss the sustainability’s which underline their approach . There are “ plans afoot” for a swimming pool ….and a larger restaurant and other things … so , for those with an inquisitive mind, this resort may have additional appeal . Finally two points 1. The staff are charming and welcoming 2. We had driven for 7 hours from Port Macquarie and I need to emphasise that the bed is unsurpassed for comfort .

We loved our stay at the Bannaby Cottage. We stayed just for a couple of nights over the Easter long weekend and were lucky with the weather that was perfect. The Cottage was lovely with sunshine streaming through and beautiful country surroundings. It was so relaxing and peaceful that we were happy to just stay in and enjoy it and only went for a short walk to explore around the farm to see the traditional shearing shed that was incredible. The Cottage itself seems brand new / fully renovated and is beautifully set up - the photographs on the website don't do it justice. The place has a remote feel and it was quite an adventure for us driving there and back from Sydney through country roads that we preferred to the main roads and highway. We made a trip out of it and visited places along the way including on the way back the nearby Taralga and Wombeyan Caves that were worth the visit (even though I am not a big fan of caves and have already seen too many in Asia that were quite impressive). It was fun discovering a new part of NSW where we haven't been previously, as it is bit of a drive from Sydney just for a weekend away, especially if - like us - you don't go the direct way - but that's what makes it fun and interesting:)
