Beechworth is a beautiful historically significant country town, either as a holiday destination or a base for exploring the whole region. Whether it is walking, shopping, eating, sightseeing, there is something for everyone. It is an easy town to walk around. Visitor Information in the old Shire building were very helpful for tour info, miners right and gold panning maps, etc. The gold tour opposite was very informative and interesting. The Burke Museum had fascinating displays including a Thylacine and other taxidermy birds and animals you might never see in the wild. As well as historical artefacts relating to Burke. Queen Victoria Park has some spectacular trees planted in the early days of the town. One of my favourite towns in Victoria, never get tired of visiting.Guest review byHilet18Australia - 10.0

Great little spot for a long weekend. Super friendly town, good old fashioned pubs abs service. Wonderful little shops to poke around in. Wonderful bush walking and excellent bike trails. Relaxed town with plenty to offer the slow-paced retiree. There's a good walking trek just next to the town. A few walking tours through the town that makes it interesting. The town suffered an internet outage during our visit which left us in a dilemma as everything was Cash Only and we had little. With the autumnal leaves in glorious technicolor what is there not to love. In the short time I was there Beechworth appeared a well preserved and vibrant country town. I will be back to explore the area more fully. Dinner at The Nicholas was an unexpected pleasure. Just unfortunate that a large very noisy party turned up just after I had ordered. The en-suite was large with plenty of space for our toiletries. We had a large sitting and dining room. While being Tuesday, the hotel bistro was not open and there were very few places open foe evening meals. However, the Nicholas hotel, about 400m down the road, while not looking great from the outside, was amazing inside and the food was very good. Beechworth itself is rich in historic buildings. Set in beautiful gardens our 2 bedroom cottage (named Ingram) had been very well maintained and was spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was provided and the facilities generally in the cottage were excellent.
