Beautifully restored and well curated space. Big and inviting. Had plenty of character. Love how bright and sunny the place, away from the crowd and just felt like a home away from home. The host was very thoughtful, love the little touches from the complimentary cocktails, to providing eggs.

Everything you would need for a lovely stay in this beautiful part of Tassie - and then some. Who doesn't like a gift bottle of chardonnay and some chocolate eh? The lovely neighbour was able to provide the correct keysafe combination when I was given an incorrect one by booking.com😎

Waratah is about 45 minutes from Cradle Mountain, and a good place to stay if you are visiting cradle mountain. The waterfall in the middle of town is unique. There is a mix of new homes, and also old homes in various states of disrepair and abandonment, possibly the town is experiencing a bit of a renaissance, but its hard to say. Its easy to visit the shed that the man who discovered tin at Waratah lived in, and provides an indication of just how tough life was in those days. For me a highlight was eating in the pub/hotel on a Friday night. The pub seemed to be a time machine, going back 30 years, it was full of people, music from 30 or 40 years ago was being played on the jukebox, the only thing out of place was the flat screen TV.

Great museum with a vast range of items to see and read about the history of this old Tin Town. Lovely meals at the pub. Fabulous walk in Philosopher Falls is a definite. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly. The platypus viewing ponds are beautifully done. Very worth while. Good drive to Cradle mountain next day.

We arrived just before dusk and it was lovely to enter our warm cottage. We visited the local pub for drinks and dinner, which was excellent. We could see the waterfall lit up in the evening from our table. The following day we went to see the waterfall and drove around town before visiting the museum. The volunteer on the day was just lovely and couldn't do enough for us with answering our questions. The town had a really lovely feel to it.

An old tin mining town, so lots of relevant history.

An old tin mining town, so lots of relevant history. Walks around the town highlighted the history. Town within easy reach of other tourist destinations like Cradle Mtn, Corinna and The Tarkine wilderness area. Would definitely recommend a stay in this town.
