I stayed in Fort MacLeod three weekends in a row. I stayed at two seperate hotels and the stay was pleasant. I ate at the McDonald's, subway, tim Hortons and dairy queen and they were all good. The town was small and quaint, but very industrial.
The town was small and quaint, but very industrial. I got a feeling that it was a bit rough, then noticed a notorious biker gang show up as I was getting gas. It might have been a coincidence, but it was a bit unnerving. I am not really sure it is a destination location for everyone? Excellent town swimming pool, not a lot of good restaurants . However plenty of sights and really close to Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump (opens at 10 am) we were early. good place to spend half a day and then on to other things. Fort Macleod hosts a horse slaughter plant called Bouvry Exports and that brings a dark and down-trodden energy to the town, which locals tell me has a high crime rate. There are some nice businesses in the town though.Guest review byJenniferCanada

We tried calling and after an hour we left. It was a dirty dilapidated hotel from the outside and when nobody even was there, we had to leave. Someone finally called when we were halfway to Calgary. He said that he would return our prepaid amount but he wouldn't provide a cancellation number. We have never gotten our money back. Had to go to McDonald's as they had no coffee. .beds were comfortable and clean . There was a benches outside to enjoy the morning sun.
