FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

An outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, Vancouver is sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain is a favourite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch ‘n’ putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home ground of the city’s football and American football teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia’s largest city and never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodation, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near each of its ferry ports.

You can do Vancouver in 3 or 4 days.

You can do Vancouver in 3 or 4 days. If you fly in, the Skytrain can take you all the way to the Waterfront. Think of Victoria in its own time window due to the length of travel time.) I enjoyed Stanley Park, the beaches, the Aquarium (closes early), Chinatown especially Dr Sun Yat Sen Park, the Vancouver Museum, Gastown shopping and Restaurants!!! Great restaurants Water Street Cafe, Cin Cin Italian, Corderos for lunch, and best value authentic Chinese Barbeque in Chinatown!

Most of the tourist attractions were within show distance and could be accessed via buses, trains, walking, and tour companies. The on/off shuttle bus was very convenient and easy to use! if you are a foodie freak, there is a huge variety of cuisine to choose from. We are definitely spending extra time after our cruise on a future visit!

Walkable from the hotel, the ferry reservation system is awful as they dont leave enough non reservations to move you effectively off of Vancouver Island. So sold out of reservations so can't book and then when the ferry load it only takes 6 cars from the row left over from the last ferry.....not cool

We did a boat tour that was amazing which allowed us to see outside the city. It was so much fun. We used a zodiac as the boat and it was an awesome 3 hours. The downtown area was very sketchy, with an abundance of homeless people and drug addicts doing drugs in the streets. I have never seen anything like it in any other city I’ve visited.

Fantastic: City planning; Buildings' architectural design, well balanced skyline; Integration with nature; Stanley park; boat tours; seaplane tours; sea to sky gondola; Whistler and the drive there; just driving around the city is a pleasure. Unbearable: drug epidemics surounding downtown and Chinatown; you can see it is spreading to other parts of the city centre; human degradation; hundreds of people completly left to their fate; drug traffic and drug slavery; profound sadness and preplexity on how all the Comunnity - City/Province/Country - allows/drove this state of things. Mere spectators, it seems. It is an absolute no-go zone that should be clearly marked as such to city visitors - which is not, and that is far from okay. Unless one has professional interest in doing so.

City footpaths could do with a pressure clean.

City footpaths could do with a pressure clean. The litter around homeless or down on their luck folks is a turn off for visitors. General waste cleaning services are apparent but clean streets say the city cares about itself.

We stayed at Hotel Barclays in Vancouver for two nights and had a very pleasant experience. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and while the decor wasn’t too modern, everything was well-maintained and perfectly fine. The location was great—close to the city and the waterfront, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Very comfortable room and bathroom. Facilties in the hotel are a big plus, such as the swimmingpool, jacuzzi and gym. Superfriendly and helpful staff. Our kids likes loves the big aquarium in the entree. Walking distance to downtown Vancouver and Gastown, various good restaurant around the corner. Great value for money, definitely recommend it.
