Sion is the capital of the Canton of Valais in southwestern Switzerland. It's a city rich in history and serves as a gateway to the Alps, with easy access to popular ski resorts like Crans-Montana and Verbier, as well as a wide range of hiking trails. It is also well known for its wine. If you travel around this area, you will see a lot of vineyards. The city is charming, surrounded by mountains with old building still being occupied and nice cafés and restaurants everywhere. The underground car park, shared with the adjacent Coop was very useful and reasonably priced but access was rather tight. The hotel room was good but lacked air conditioning. The fan provided was certainly needed! The buffet breakfast served in the ground floor restaurant was excellent.
