Cahuita is a hidden gem.
Cahuita is a hidden gem. It’s a small, quiet peaceful place to stay that is near to Puerto Viejo, but without the noise. The beaches and wildlife were wonderful, and we loved visiting Cahuita National Park. There is a bus stop in Cahuita which goes to Puerta Viejo. We loved eating at many of the local restaurants. Cahuita has not yet been commercialized. There are souvenir shops, but it is mainly untouched and undeveloped. The most beautiful tropical garden where you can observe lots of birds and some other wildlife. The cabinas are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The lodge has an excellent location close to playa negra and the town centre. Luciano was very welcoming and accommodating. He gave us a map of Cahuita and explained to us where everything was. A lot of animals in the garden: big iguanas, sloth, agutis, red/mint frogs. Very helpful and nice host. Room is exactly as described. Location is in front of playa Negra and few restaurants, about 1 km from Cahuita center where more restaurants can be found.
