The Zollverein Mine, Unesco Heritage, worths the visit. I was there on business, but I had a great time visiting the several parks built where once there were mines or steel usines. It is a diverse city, very green. Not the very turistical place, though.Guest review byAna

The staff were incredibly friendly, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the food in the restaurant was great - both the pasta they dished up for us with no fuss at 22.30 after the football and the breakfast included in the price of the room. We came for the Euros, so booked what we thought was a cheap and cheerful hotel that would fit the bill, safe to say La Scala far exceeded expectations. The bedroom is beautiful, light, with a big wardrobe. The bathroom is also very clean and functional. There are also washing machines in the basement (which we didn’t use). It takes about 2 minutes to get to a supermarket and 5 minutes to the railway station.
