Heimbach is small German town within the Eifel National Park...
Heimbach is small German town within the Eifel National Park. Very good destination for easy to medium hikes, but also popular with bikers and cyclists. Close-by there is a dam lake were you can do plenty of water sport activities(sailing, SUP, kayaking, swimming, boat trips). The scenery is quite unique. In Heimbach central you can find many traditional German houses it has an old town vibe, with many places to sit inside but without a "touristy" vibe. There is castle which is well worth visiting and also an art academy which hosts art events every now and then. The restaurants and breakfast places in the centrum offer traditional German dishes which basically means lots of meat and bear. Because of Cologne's close proximity you can find many places with Kölsch beer on the tap, which is quite different from the most common Pils types. Perfect destination for families who like outdoor activities. It is said the the national park has very little light pollution so stargazing can also be a fun thing to do.Guest review bypzmNetherlands - 8.0
