prompt service whenever i needed something eg extra towels or pillows. vending machines & coffee machines on site. very close to the local Edeka shopping market. Beds were extremely comfortable, shower and room were good size and clean modern build.

Easy to park at, right in the city centre and convenient for the U-Bahn. Upon arrival, we were treated exceptionally well and this continued throughout our stay. All the staff were friendly and polite but especially Belinda who would always go the extra mile.

    I was sceptical about the hotel due to some of the reviews although I must admit that my room was compact and had everything I needed; the bathroom was newly renovated, I think. The room and bathroom were clean. No doubt, I would stay again given the opportunity.

    It hasn't happened to me often when I travel, but sometimes it happens that you find yourself in a place that leaves you with a particularly dear memory, one of those that warm your heart. Well, staying in the house of Thomas and his wife was one of those memories. They welcomed us as you would a distant friend who comes to visit you, and they made us find a very welcoming, clean house, full of comforts located in a particularly quiet and relaxing area. Every detail of the house was excellent, the rooms, the beds, the huge bathroom and the equipped kitchen and in the evening we always found parking very close to the house. On Thomas's advice, we were able to get to an incredibly large market. Where there were also several restaurants and pizzerias. Finally, in the area, there is a bakery where you can have very good breakfasts and where you can find exquisite typical German bread. We were in Essen for a trade fair and the thought of being able to return to that house in the evening comforted us for the whole week. Highly recommended!

    Waterfront area is hyped as a great place to hang out but wasn't really much. The Altstadt is unremarkable. Walked down the main pedestrian street in the evening and felt that it was now just a place for people to ride scooters and hang out. Not very pleasant. Riding bikes to the train station in the morning---unbelievably badly marked. Would not plan to go back.

    Two beautiful historic buildings renovated into one hotel. The hotel is quite small and therefore cozy, combining tradition and luxury in furnishing and overall approach. One can notice a slight musty smell in the corridor reminding the age of the building, while the room is perfectly clean, light and fresh. Tasty breakfast in winter garden is a good start of the day. The hotel is near the city center however common city noise (cars and trams), neighbours' footsteps and showering are in acceptable level.

    Great position to walk around the town or take public transport (tram, bus, and underground stops are right outside the hotel). There is parking directly under the hotel (admittedly not owned by the hotel) for €10 per day, but I nearly didn't book because the description on Booking.com says there is no parking. Comfortable bed, large room, shower, and bathroom.

    Lovely hotel in a quiet area but close to the city. Ample parking and very frendly staff. The room was large and spotless. The staff were very welcoming and we will be staying there again when in the area. The resturant looked good but we were not able to try it out, I regret that as I think the food would have been very good. Very nice beer garden.

    Appearance of breakfast area ok. breakfast poor, no sausages and boiled eggs, scrambled eggs from powder! Bottled water would be useful in the rooms, at this room price this is standard in other hotels!
