If you are looking to be in the centre of town and within walking distance to most of attractions, then Hotel Deutsche Eiche is for you! My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and loved it. The highlights were location, while close to everything it’s in a quiet street so no sleep issues. The free mini bar is amazing! What a great idea, topped up each day it was awesome to come home and crack a beer. The rooms are large and well equipped, the shower is wonderful with lots of water pressure. The hotel has easy access to the trams and trains. There is a restaurant at the hotel and lots of cafes, bars and supermarkets close by. We also found a laundromat a 10 minute walk away which was cheap and good. An all round great place to stay!

FAQs about hotels in Munich

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is another commercial wonderland square that takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city centre from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

The Munich Botanical Garden is one of the most well-organized and richly labeled plant collections you can find in one place. The greenhouses are an absolute must-see, showcasing exotic and tropical species, but the expansive outdoor gardens are equally worth exploring. The grounds are vast, so take your time – and don’t miss the garden café, which offers tasty German-style food, drinks, coffee, and desserts, perfect for a relaxing lunch during your visit.

An enjoyable time in my short stay.

An enjoyable time in my short stay. People are friendly, and there is no rush as you find in the big cities. Great place to visit. The Hop on, hop off buses are great. However, be wary as when they return to their start, they tend to then change to a different route. For example, if you hop on partway through their route, when they get back to their starting point, check with the bus driver if the route will continue or if you need to hop on another bus. The staff are helpful and friendly but just be aware of this.

Three different routes on the hop-on bus!

Three different routes on the hop-on bus! Enough things to do to keep you busy for about 3 days. Lots of good food options and the English gardens!. Great Museum options if that's your thing. The tourist shopping street was a bit too much for me and crowded. Easy access from the Bahnhof into the core area. The NS historical stuff is a little spooky but that's all in the past.

Munich centre is always full of people, even on Sunday with all shops closed, its packed with people eating and drinking and watching the glockenspiel show on the town hall clock tower. The Beer kellers are fantastic, there are terrace cafes and resaurants eveywhere. No cars near the city centre. The locals all eat and drink in the centre, its not just tourists. The market is brilliant. All the Beer gardens are fabulous. The public transport is cheap and amazingly good (9.60 euro per day for bus+tram+underground). bus, tram, underground all arrive every few minutes and late into the night. You will never need a taxi/uber! My favourite city in Germany so far. Englisher Garten is a massive park full of beer gartens! The people are pretty freindly. Beats Berlin and Hamburg and they are pretty amazing.

Excellent location, close to the main station and to public transport, but also in walking distance from the city centre. It was the second time that we staid at this hotel and it has improved. The forniture in the room was new, the coloured walls make it nicer. Breakfast is good, for the price (Munich can be very expensive on this aspect). The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large and very clean. An affordable, nice place to stay in one of the most expensive cities in Germany.

We did not want this to be so, but our visit to Munich overlapped with the Octoberfest. We battled to find reasonable accommodation that is affordable, well located and pleasant. Very difficult because of the beer fest. The hotel however is a budgetary hotel, smallish room with two single beds pushed together. They were rather small with a very small duvet cover each. Though away from the city centre, the hotel is very close (50m) away from a major bus route. This worked very well.

This is a solid choice for a short stay in Munich, albeit with a few limitations. The hotel is clean, modern and the staff were very friendly. Check-in was efficient too. The location is relatively good but is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The city centre can be reached on foot in about 20 - 25 minutes. The bed in my room was really comfortable.
