Beautiful, peaceful location on the edge of the town with lovely hillside views. Exceptionally clean and quiet. Very comfortable mattress (though pillows a bit soft). Efficient and friendly check in, easy guest access to rooms and check out.

There was a characterful restaurant available for an evening meal and the food was good, although there was a very long wait for it. The balcony, partly overlooking countryside, was a pleasant little outside space additional to the bedroom. The mattress was very firm, which I like, and the bedding was spotlessly clean.

    Schmalkalden is very pretty with a huge number of beautiful...

    Schmalkalden is very pretty with a huge number of beautiful old houses, not overly restored. Outside of the centre it has good supermarkets with long opening hours and easy car access to scenic walks and tours in Thuringia. It is nonetheless a very quiet village and we found just 3 bar/restaurants open in the evening in June. Apart from the bakery (close to the house) most things don’t open till 10am. This might change in peak season.

    Location was fantastic. Super centrally located for Schmalkalden attractions. About a 20 minute walk from train station. Having a lockbox for the keys was convenient, we used it ourself during the stay when our group split up so that whoever returned first could access the key. Furniture, and beds, were comfortable. Refrigerator and microwave worked well. Water pressure and temperature was good. In general things were clean and good shape. Historic decor was nice.
