Bilbao is a fabulous city with a wealth of fabulous pintxos bars and restaurants- the food was divine! There is a huge selection of shops, crafts, walking tours and sights to visit. I loved the funicular with spectacular views over the city at sunset and highly recommend a pintxos and wine tasting tour, it opened the world of Basque cuisine. There are numerous parks to relax and people watch and beautiful walks along the river. The Ribiero market is definitely worth a visit, so much to try! Often overlooked destination, being the ferry port for Spain and Portugal. Nice old town, some interesting Belle Epoque buildings (plus the ultra-modernistic Guggenheim for those who like that sort of thing). Lovely funicular to the top of the hill overlooking the city - access to the train is very well hidden in a low-lying square and little publicity.
