The wooden floors throughout the hotel are very noisy but we appreciate this is not something easily changed. Our first room was particularly noisy and we considered booking out after one night but reception staff were incredibly helpful and found us a quieter room. This is a great place for walkers and hikers but it was a very long and winding road to get there. While in Gredos, we would recommend going to the caves... that alone was worth the visit! Breakfast was delicious... would definitely recommend it. They have a lovely little gift cabinet at reception.Guest review byTrisha PageSpain - 10.0

The accommodation is listed as a Refugio - ie a hostal, so do not expect luxury. It is comfortable. The village is actually Barajas, and Navarrendonda is just a couple of kilometres away, with an excellent convenience store. This whole area is in the Gredos, the mountains in the area NW of Madrid, so the Madrelanous come for the week-end mainly for walking, which we also enjoyed. The hotel was very much catered for lovers of nature, which was perfect for us as we're keen wildlife enthusiasts - but didn't know about this aspect of the accommodation before arrival.
