Summer trip to Rovaniemi: Lapland was in a heat wave which held us back a bit as it was rather humid. We enjoyed Arktikum very much, went swimming in the river, walked in the Arctic Gardens and explored the town centre. We planned some hiking but it was hotter than we expected. Our goal was to spend a few days in there during the "midnight sun" period and to explore the natural areas in that part of Finland. Rovaniemi is not an exciting town, but very pleasant with good museums to help you understand the Artic environment and good restaurants and activities. Arktikum Museum is worth taking . I recommend to stay at least one full day on this museum. Regarding food there is an amazing Asian restaurant called Ozaki Teppanyaki Sampokeskus that is really good for families, We loved all the stuff we tried there. Although our accommodation proved to be very poor value for money, Rovaniemi itself was great. The hotel is located in the center of Rovaniemi, bus directly in front of the door. When we will come back to Rovaniemi we will for sure stay in the Arctic Light Hotel!
