Issoire is an ideal overnight stop when travelling from the UK to Spain and vice versa. The A75 from Clermont Ferrand to Beziers is the best road I ever travel on -- relatively quiet, especially at night, lovely scenery and a direct route to the Med. Also, the only toll is on the magnificent Millau Bridge, but that is avoidable by going through the town. Central Issoire, where there is a good choice of accommodation, is only a half mile from Junction 13.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

If you are looking for a special experience, I recommend staying her. The building and grounds are an an actual castle built in the Italianate style (think Romeo & Juliet). The host and hostess were most accommodating. The grounds are extensive and include a very nice campground where the spaces are privately spaced with bushes & trees in between. There are laundry facilities. Some spaces have amazing views. The swimming pool is very large, with a play tower and two water slides. A convenient stop over town with a carrefour for cheap petrol and food for the onward journey. Closed on a Sunday evening. Clear and concise instructions on how to gain entry. Location is superb, it is just outside of the town centre so a very short walk for bars and restaurants. Perfect as a base for a tour of the Auvergne Easy to find. We could write an essay on this place but you need to stay for yourself.
