In La Charité, you can visit the old church, priory, city walls and enjoy the local Saturday market on the main square. For those looking for a more active holiday, you can enjoy kayaking on the Loire, rent a bike to go cycling in the surrounding countryside or even go horse-riding in the local forest, called the Bertranges. Beautiful 14 century property in a historical French town. Be prepared, this is not 5 star hotel but honest and down to earth French hospitality I was leaving at 4 am to motorcycle further south a nd dearest Ira who is like me no longer of youth, insisting on greeting me at 3.30am with crossionts and lovely fresh coffee.
