Then the modern part of the city has many outstanding name-brand stores & eating! Whether a city is worth recommending or not ultimately depends very much on what you're looking for as a traveler, so it's always very difficult, in my opinion, to give a rating... Personally, I would say it's especially great for anyone who wants to visit a historic city and also values gastronomy; then you'll get your money's worth. It's also great to explore the city by bike. Less attractive, however, is the nightlife and the atmosphere in the evenings; the city just doesn't feel light and relaxed... On top of that, the city is pretty dirty and parking is way overpriced! In summary: Lyon is worth a visit, but you won't miss anything if you don't.Guest review byHugoSwitzerland - 10.0

Especially Vieux Lyon The local eateries are the best, especially the desserts (pavlova, macaroons, fromageries) There are farmers market every morning, there are activities like boating on the river and the people are very friendly and warm. Lyon is very scenic and captivating city, we loved strolling around the city center (Old Town, Fourvier). You should definitely take a guided tour around the center, we took a lot out of it which helped us to enjoy and apprehend Lyon to its fullest. If you want to have a bite on the local meals then head to many of local "bouchons", those are small family restaurants serving authentic lyonnaise cuisine.
