Quiet location and yet only a 5 minute walk to the square with bars and shops. Sebastian maintained contact with us via messages on booking.com and welcomed us on arrival. He spoke good English, which saved us stumbling over our tragically bad French. Our room with terrace was spotlessly clean with twin sinks and a shower in the bathroom and separate WC. Loads of drawer and cupboard space. A huge bed with crisp bed linen, Communal kitchen where you could make yourself a drink. Private, secure parking. Google maps found the place with no problem. At breakfast we sat outside with two French couples and we all managed to communicate. Hot drinks were served, along with orange juice, bread, jams and croissants. Then a delicious apple cake arrived, then a variety of cheeses and yoghurt. Just when we thought we could burst, pancakes arrived as well. We only stayed one night on our way north to Calais, but would highly recommend.

You cannot fault the location! Many places say they are only a couple of steps from the village square, but this literally is - you are a maximum of 15m from the square, but it is quiet and you don't feel any pressure of traffic or crowds, due to the tranquil nature of the village. You are only 10 minutes walk to the lake, the hotel restaurant is two minutes away and the supermarket is opposite (very handy and nice folks). The bakery next door is also a lifesaver if you arrive late, or need bread and milk in the morning (open 6am). The apartment is small but sufficient, and we were able to cook a meal for a family on the small kitchen with no trouble.

    We stayed a week but a 3-4 night break would have been perfect, 3 main Restaurants (Along with a pizza bar and burger bar) - Le Concept was our favourite - You need a car to go to the beach or sightseeing - but there are numerous walking trails around

    We arrived on a Monday and the small town was a bit dead, with more restaurants closed until Wednesday. There’s a nice restaurant in Bages, a 15- minutes drive, that opens most days. If you like to walk, Peyriac offers some original options, such as a boardwalk and paths along the lakes. However, it’s often very windy, as it was during our stay and waking was not as pleasant. We also skipped the nearby beaches due to the wind and relatively cool temperatures for July. Instead we headed to Narbonne and the Canal du Midi. There’s no lack of interesting and quirky sites and good restaurants near Peyriac. We would have explored a bit more if we had stayed a couple extra days.

    The town is small but very nice.

    The town is small but very nice. It is very nice to have a walk in the surrounding lake. We regretted not to stay a day more. Plus, Sigean African Reserve is a stone trow, and it is strongly recommended.

    Marvellous walking and bird life Historic small

    Marvellous walking and bird life Historic small Village with huge atmosphere and very quiet A lovely tiny square with 2 bar/cafes and a good restaurant which was sadly closed the night we were there - Tuesday - but one of the bars did up panini and wine which was delicious. Truly excellent visit
