Barmouth felt too busy on arrival. The train was overheated and very crowded for the journey back to Shrewsbury. That destroyed a perhaps-naive hope that it would be an idyllic chance to view Wales. Lovely spot in North Wales, lovely beach and some nice restaurants. Locals were friendly . We did a boat trip around Cardigan Bay and it was well worth the £20 per head cost, although we were very lucky with the weather. Some nice shops. I had the best breakfast, coffee and homemade scones ever. I can see the seaside through the window on a sunny day. Good value of money for 2 nights which includes the breakfast. There's umbrellas by the side to use incase it's raining which is a great idea. Beautiful hotel, amazing bathroom and bedroom.
