I've never visited Retford before, however I'm very glad I did, especially after staying at the Elms. A warm welcome greeted me at reception, I was then shown to my lovely room which was located in buildings adjacent to the hotel. This was well laid out, clean and with a very comfy bed, as well as being far enough away so as not to be disturbed by the footfall from the hotel restaurant, which I can also highly recommend after having dinner there with guests. Breakfast was plentiful and great value for money too. Overall a great stay made even more so by genuinely friendly staff.

Nice upgrade for our anniversary, relaxed atmosphere, lovely spa, food was delicious, good breakfast choice. Friendly staff & honest due to my husband leaving his wallet in the room we received a phonecall within hours of leaving.

Lovely surprise! We stayed in room 9, spacious and looking over the park. Very quite but I presume it was because it was Sunday morning. Very clean. Reception very friendly. We didn’t use the bar or have breakfast.

The lovely hosts couldn't do enough for you but were not totally in your face, well done for mastering that side, the location is stunning and easy to get to off the A1, our dogs were made so welcome too.

    Such an interesting town with lots of shops, a lovely park (Kings park) and beautiful surrounding countryside. Found a great and unusual restaurant by the canal. There is lots of free parking which makes your stay much easier. There is an intresting market in the town centre, but don't know if it's all week or just certain days.

    We were attending a wedding so picked The Elms as wasn't too...

    We were attending a wedding so picked The Elms as wasn't too far from the venue. Hotel was as expected from previous reviews. Main hotel was nice, friendly staff, really helpful. Our booking included either a cooked or continental breakfast. All freshly cooked, we also had drinks and food on first evening. Which was lovely. Free parking in large car park. Now for the negatives, I had booked this around six months ago, and asked for rooms to be together. We stayed in the converted stables, not the actual hotel. Our family had two rooms on ground floor that were spacious. Ours was on first floor, room a lot smaller, massive crack in bathroom sink, room extremely hot, there was a fan provided but was broken! overall rooms need some tlc. Rooms are clean and tidy, fresh towels and toiletries provided daily. Rooms just need a makeover and then would be excellent.
