The warm welcome from the staff upon arrival. The food fabulous, the decor so tasteful, modern but in keeping with the ambience of this period building. A great base for travelling around the area. Excellent value for money and you can tell the staff and owner love what they do!

Ecclefechan has a museum based in Thomas Carlyle's birthplace which is worth visiting. Nearby is the Devil's Porridge Museum which details life and events at MOD Gretna Green explosives factory. Also the coastline is very pretty.

Clean comfortable made very welcome , felt too many dont’s in conversation and didn’t like a note being put on bed we were not using after being told not to use empty bed , down side had to travel into Gretna for food to bring back , many more information on that would be useful but I also didn’t ask , have to say thank you for letting us leave a bit later to go to wedding

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was very good, cereals, fresh fruit, juice etc and a choice of cooked breakfast, all served in a beautiful dining room. The hotel is being refurbished by the new owners and is being completed with style and taste in sympathy with the hotel's age. It provides a comfortable stopover for travellers between England and Scotland because of its close location to the motorway. We were pleased that an evening meal was available when we arrived.

From start to finish, the staff at Ecclefechan Hotel were fantastic. Friendly, helpful, accommodating, they went above and beyond on several locations to make our 5-day trip exceptional every day. We shall definitely be back on grounds off hospitality alone, not to mention the size of the room (we opted for budget, which was still spacious), the cosiness of the furnisbings and the location itself.

The new owners of the Ecclefechan Hotel, which is currently being refurbished, offered us a warm welcome and were very helpful. The upgraded bedroom was comfortable and the breakfast well presented. It is clear that this hotel is work in progress, but it has plenty of potential for development and we wish the new owners every success.

We liked everything about Kirkconnel Hall Hotel, it was very accommodating, different in that it was an old listed building, full of history, great hosts, and a very inviting lounge bar. The bedroom was very spacious as was the bathroom. Great building you could get lost in!
