A beautiful part of the world that I want to go back to visit. Shetland Islands are vast and varied and I’ve only scratched the surface of seeing all of its beauty. Lerwick was basked in sunshine and very warm for our whole stay. Highly recommend a walk along the waterside from the Mareel (great coffee and cakes) to the Knab. Stunning views. We also took the boat trip to Noss - the sights and sounds of the birds were amazing. But the sheer scale of the cliffs! Plenty of places to sit and take in the beautiful water. Lerwick has a lot to offer.
Lerwick has a lot to offer. It's ideal as a base for exploring around Shetland and has decent pubs and restaurants for the evening. The Dowry and Fjara were excellent for evening meals. Some of the scenery and views around Shetland are stunning, particularly the tombolo across to St Ninians Island. Don't miss the puffins at Sumburgh.Guest review byweebud64 - 10.0
We stayed in Lerwick for 5 nights.
We stayed in Lerwick for 5 nights. It’s the perfect location to explore and travel all the islands. My only advice would be to book excursions and evening meals, in restaurants before you arrive. There are only two restaurants open on a Monday night, we ended up eating fish and chips! Ce la vie and Faraj are excellent restaurants. Pete’s cafe has excellent coffee and home made cakes. The Noss seabird excursion is a must to see gannet colonies and the cliffs, giving a different perspective of the islands.Guest review byAngieUnited Kingdom
