Well designed room and comfy bed. Feels plush. The lobby area and bar are attractive and bright. Free drinks in the fridge was a welcome bonus. So well located, right on the river so you have the Keyside at your easy disposal. This means loads of restaurants are a stone's throw away (right next door there is a Weatherspoons pub). The walk into the centre of town is uphill so if you struggle to walk much then you might find it a climb. A lovely hidden stone staircase across the street gets you close to Central Station and some cool bars, if you mooch about. I ate in the restaurant. Drinks a bit on the pricey side as you might expect. Meal was nice enough.

The bed and linens were great as were the nice big fluffy towels. Location was good and they had parking included and to top it off, they had a lift.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Centre, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sport, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodation all over this happening city.

We really enjoyed visiting the Biscuit Factory which was a short walk from where we stayed. It had a very extensive exhibition of contemporary art. Lovely staff who were helpful, friendly and very welcoming. We also discovered it had an excellent rooftop garden terrace cafe, again with friendly welcoming staff and a very good range of fresh food to choose from at reasonable prices for the quality. Jesmond is a lovely, safe locality. With lots of interesting walks around and a small but interesting shopping area with some busy but lovely cafes. We found the shopping areas especially Grainger Market well stocked with fresh fruit and veg, some vintage and other interesting shops.

Very Friendly city with the centre being built largely in Georgian style. Football ground in centre of town, close to attractive University complex. Shoppers paradise and impressive quayside alongside the river Tyne.Excellent art gallery and natural history museum. Both quite central and close to famous Grey Street. Plenty of pub and restaurant choice.

Easy to see the main sights such as the Castle, Cathedrals, plenty of bars, restaurants to suit everyone. Worth using the open air tour bus, the ticket lasts for 24 hours, so you can repeat the tour or hop on and off as you wish. We found the people of Newcastle to be friendly, plenty to do for everyone. Worth visiting the sights old and new.

A city with a lot of shops, a nice riverwalk and a castle. It is a very nice city to see or to stay a couple of days. The city is big enough to have a lot of places to see, but small enough to discover the city by walk. I stayed five nights and it was the right amount of days to enjoy the city.

Brilliant hotel, perfect location for the city centre. Our room on the first floor was very clean and a great size. Very polite and welcoming staff, breakfast service great. The pool/steam room were great The parking (although paid) was convenient being so nearby the hotel, just be careful if Newcastle are playing home as the car park was full on Saturday near 1500 kick off - we managed to get lucky though. Plenty spaces otherwise.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location for Newcastle, 10 mins from the metro and 4 stops to the city centre, yet quiet at the hotel and in the grounds. The facilities were great and the staff were very attentive. A perfect place for my 60th birthday, we'll be back!
