Quiet town with just Co-op.
Quiet town with just Co-op. Has a few hotels, lovely golf course which is why we were there. Stunning Letterbox restaurant and great cafe The Grill. Plenty of walks round and about. Family run business with great Highlands hospitality. The guest house is from 19th centuries but it was renovated and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was fabulous, tasty with a high end menu and generous serves. Offering a full Scottish breakfast was an absolute bonus. It was amazing to be able to try such a cultural food in country town. Glen Hotel 100m away offers gourmet meals at pub prices. We were 2 families and we all loved our stay. The staff were all lovely (someone very kindly gave us a lift to the station), and everyone we met in Newtonmore was very friendly. The landscape is incredibly beautiful - we walked straight from the hotel into the mountains on one day, and along the river the next day.
