The apartment was really a great place to relax. Basically, only a sidewalk and a street separate the house from the coast. From the apartment, which came come complete with binoculars, I could see the beach, the boats, the birds (many of them), the waves, the tides, ships… Amazing and calming for me. Also, the perpetual roar of the sea is so soothing. Fortunately, there was some wind when I stayed there. I liked that so much. If you don’t like this, you can take the bedroom on the other side. You don’t really hear the primary school that is, what, a hundred meters or so away. You can take walks along the sea, various beaches; shopping for groceries is around the corner. The local pub, The Queens Head, has a focus on gluten-free food. This was ideal for me. If you want to explore the area, the Metro station is just two minutes away. There’s also a number of bus services running along the coast. What a gem. What is so special about the apartment is that so much thinking and experience seem to have flown into its design and features. To give examples: You will find notes that explain how to use the amenities in the apartment in places where you need them, not stored away in a folder somewhere. This is helpful. Other example: the TV comes with Netflix et al. already installed with a profile. Everything is working, tidy, clean, … just really good. Last two point: I’m a side sleeper and found the mattresses comfortable, and the heating is working perfectly, so it’s also a good place to stay when it’s cold outside.

The cottage is in a fabulous location for exploring the North East coast with Cullercoats beach just a very short walk. Simpson Street is a lovely street of colourful cottages and there is plenty of free parking outside the cottage. Access to the metro is extremely easy too. Cowrie Cottage is welcoming, cosy and comfortable. It’s very tastefully decorated and is well-equipped. The log burning fire is great. The owner text to say the cottage was ready for our stay earlier than check-in time which was a nice touch. Julie was also quick to respond when text with a query. She was extremely helpful. We will definitely return!

View from living area. Most comfortable "hotel" bed I have slept in for 25 years. Vibe of a "boutique" apartment as opposed to a "squeaky clean" hotel. Tynemouth and its Front Street charm the soul. Communications from proprietor. Access to pubs, eateries, local shops and beautiful coastline.

This accommodation is perfect for longer stays, and as a remote worker I was more than happy with the accommodation. Beautiful house, very well kept and spotless throughout! The owners are lovely and kindly accommodated me last minute as I'd made a mistake with the dates. I'll definitely be back!

North Shields town centre is a bit of a dump but efforts are being made to improve it. New transport hub, better walkway to Fish Quay and ferry landing set to be moved to Fish Quay. Bars and restaurants on the Quay are great and very popular, there are also some nice bars just to the north of town centre. Good transport links to Newcastle and the coast and it is worth buying a Pop Card for travel on the Metro and buses.

North Shields Fish Quay has got lots of nice bars and restaurants. Great place to spend an afternoon or evening. Plenty of nice pubs in surrounding areas Shields town centre is a bit rundown and the pubs are a bit rough but everyone in them is friendly and they loved my dogs. I was brought up in Shields and still love it a hopefully planned improvements will make it better.

I know North Shields well, it’s slowly been redeveloping and I’m wondering what will replace the wilko next in the beacon centre. My kids love this place. The fish quay further down the steep hill with plenty of fisheries, and fishing boats. A small beach that can overlook the ocean and sometimes the cruise ship. And the fact you can hop on a ferry that’ll take you into South Shields aswell.

The only negative is the entrance is on a main road at a junction but once inside the flat you are in a lovely calm space. Great for a family holiday and really comfortable to stay in. The area around the flat is well worth exploring. Lots of lovely parks and beautiful terraced streets.

Best place visited was Cragside near Morpeth. Wonderful house and massive grounds spent a whole day there. Went over to Holy Island and did the scenic coastal drive. North Shields is up and coming Northumberland Square is a lovely Georgian area a short walk from the apartment. We didn't get to do everything we wanted to so will have to come back

A trip down memory lane, North Shields has changed a lot over the past twenty or thirty years ( as all places do) but there are still little reminders of its history. A walk down the fish quay and onto the beach is refreshing and brings back many memories!
