Once you reach the compound (by driving down the street parallel to the racetrack and if you do not mind the numerous, numerous mobile homes & the trash and litter on that access street -> which does not belong to the site, but to Nottingham) you reach the wonderful, secluded area of Colwick Hall. The site, interior, rooms, staff are all so marvelous. You arrive there and you feel immediately welcome. We got a room under the roof and if you open the windows you feel very Hogwardish ...

I spent two nights at the Leonardo Hotel in Nottingham and was pleasantly surprised by my stay. The room was spacious and well-equipped, complete with thoughtful amenities like a kettle—perfect for a cozy cup of tea after a day of exploring. Its location is convenient, just a short walk from the train station and about a 15-minute stroll to the city center, making it easy to enjoy by the beautiful weather. The staff were friendly and accommodating, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Although I didn’t get a chance to use the gym after a long day of walking, it’s a nice feature for those who want to stay active. Breakfast offered a decent selection of fresh food, providing a good start to the day. Overall, the Leonardo Hotel combines comfort and convenience, making it a solid choice for anyone visiting Nottingham. --- Feel free to modify it if needed!

FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

We were there for a rock gig at the Big Shed. The hotel was in a great location to walk to the event. Situated by the river. It was nice to walk along after breakfast. There are a number of reasonably priced bars and restaurants nearby and the City Centre just a short walk. The hotel has a bar and restaurant. There is a vending machine and snacks for sale in the lobby. The rooms are clean, spacious and quiet. I thought the room was great value for money.

I did not have time for the tourist activities I had planned; I would have liked to go to the National Justice Museum and Nottingham Contemporary, as well as the nearby Broadway Cinema. I was dismayed by the closed down businesses, the derelict Broad Marsh Centre, the amount of homeless people, aggressive begging, dirty streets and young men on powered bikes wearing masks. The council and the police need to do something about all this.

We only went for a 2 day trip as we were attending a graduation. We saw the castle and visited some nice restaurants. Did not get to do much sightseeing as we already had our time used up. I would go back again as I believe there is lots to see.

Unfortunately as our trip was just for one day, we didn’t get the chance to explore Nottingham. We were a wedding guest for a very dear friend getting married on the Saturday but had to rush back to London the day after the wedding so literally just had enough time for a hearty breakfast then we set off home. We would have loved to have seen a bit of the city but we are planning of returning to explore.

Great value no frills, privately owned, welcoming friendly helpful staff. No restaurant, but try the real fresh breakfast roll made to order. Great easy to find location between M1 and City Centre with own parking extra or free parking in locality. Almost perfect location for 20min walk-able to City Centre, or short taxi ride. Makes visit to Nottingham so much easier. I mean who wants to drive or park overnight in Nottigham City Centre, getting into a doom loops and fined for being forced into bus lanes?

Nice clean room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with bath/shower, good selection of toiletries. Booked breakfast, lots of choice (continental plus cooked options also), scrambled eggs especially nice - everything cooked to perfection! Nice welcoming entrance to hotel, staff are friendly and attentive. Hotel close to city centre (we saw a show at the Concert Hall - this was between 5-10 mins walk from the hotel for us).

This hotel has a really good design. It has wonderful open atriums in the centre and outside there is a lot of greenery and water. The rooms are really spacious and being on campus it was really quiet, as opposed to being in the city. It was great value for money. The breakfast was very nice in a well spaced dining area. We went into the city centre and it was very near and only £8 by uber.
