We were in a wonderful room on the top floor that left nothing to be desired. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding! Even though the hotel is a bit out of the way, there is a bus around the corner that takes you to the city center every 15 minutes. We would love to come back as a family!

This is a lovely traditional hotel with friendly, helpful staff. We had a beautiful, large room in the main hotel. The hotel has an elegant sitting room and a very nice pub for a quiet drink after dinner. It is convenient that one can park one’s car there as one cannot drive into the centre of Oxford. It is a 20 minute walk into the centre or there are busses.

FAQs about hotels in Oxford

City of Dreaming Spires

Boasting magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. Comprising England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two visitable ones are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.

Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.

The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.

Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly coloured High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centres.

Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodation on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).

Oxford is nice for anyone liking old Architecture but wasn't as lively as i thought it might be. I love flowers & gardens so visited The botanical gardens they were rather drab & brown. I know there is a hose pipe ban but not for businesses. We visited Oxford to see Diddly Squat Farm & The Farmer's Dog Pub which wasn't dissapointing.

We walked through the city to chauffeured punting at Magdalen Bridge. It was beautiful and very peaceful, with very helpful staff. There is an excellent Wetherspoons in the courtyard by the hotel for cheap and tasty breakfasts.

This was a very inspirational trip, there is so much to discover. You can get around easily by walking. There are so many key places to visit and not to miss, so I won't list them, but do buy your 90-minute Bodleian Library tour online one month in advance, or you will miss it. Consider adding the Cotswolds tour, and Blenheim Palace to your itinerary, too. It is my second visit in the last year and I would go back tomorrow if I can.

    What a fantastic place.

What a fantastic place. It is full of history and amazing buildings. There are rivers and canals with lots of lovely pubs to stop for food and drinks. It is perfect for anyone as it's flat so great for walking.the locals are very friendly so if you get lost or can't find anything just ask someone and they will gladly guide you to where you need to be. We found the weekends very busy and hard to get around for tourist groups but the week days were much easier. I was there for a week but feel I need to go back as it was so hot I didn't do enough walking down all the little side street and nooks and crannies. The surrounding areas of Oxford have lots to see as well so we only spent a couple of days in the centre. The transport is fantastic and you can get into London very easily. I have no complaints about Oxford and I would love to go back.

Oxford is still obstructed by the closed Botley road bridge under the rail station. What a massive screw-up! Oxford is very expensive for what it is. Recommend the Damascus Rose Kitchen at the Old Fire Station, lovely Mezze food & welcome. https://damascusrosekitchen.org/

Everything. The staff were extremely friendly, except for one girl who worked the bar in the evening, she was very miserable. Daniel on the reception desk was lovely as was Alfie who worked the bar in the evening. The location was great because the park and ride was literally over the road so we walked there and got the bus straight into Oxford City Centre. The food was great, the breakfast had plenty of choice and was always hot. We ate at the hotel in the lounge area every evening and there were plenty of choices on the menu.

We had 2 rooms for one night, I usually choose a chain hotel but the Remont Oxford Hotel ticked more boxes at a cheaper price. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, lovely cotton bedding, comfy bed, quality tea bags, biscuits and toiletries and very quiet! The buffet breakfast was exceptional. We appreciated the safe, free parking and the location with bus stops to and from the city centre close by. Would definitely stay there again.
