Excellent from time of arrival to departure, staff incredible at their job at each interaction, ensuring your satisfaction and best experience. We received a wonderful gesture for our anniversary. We are already booking for a return visit. There is a special charm, really majestic, a true experience of both opulence and magic. Such an enjoyable stay and the spa is probably one of the best for size, environmental factors and cleanliness. Our hotel room also spotless, highest of standards throughout our stay. Special thanks to Andreas Manager for our exceptional welcome, friendly and attentive nature always engaging and visibly supporting his staff and customers, like all the staff. Boringdon Hall have it spot on.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

Plymouth has a good centre. The aquarium is spectacular. There is a lot to enjoy in the city including its' association with the Mayflower and the Plymouth Gin distillery. It is well placed from which to explore Dartmoor and beaches in south west Cornwall by car or public transport.

There are lots of things to do in the area.

There are lots of things to do in the area. You can walk around The Hoe and the historic Barbican. There are lots of little independent shops there as well as different eateries with, of course, fabulous fish and chips. There is also a Chinese restaurant on The Hoe, called The Wet Wok which is absolutely fantastic. The service is second to none and the food is gorgeous. There are boat trips which take you too different places including one that takes you around the dockyard and warships. The city centre is a bit run down as is usual with most town centres these days but there are a few coffee shops and small restaurants. There is also the pannier market which is lovely to walk around.

An interesting city to visit for a short trip. Plan ahead what you want to do to make the most of your stay. Shopping is disappointing, but it's the same in many UK cities and towns. Very good theatre. Loved the lido and the trip to Drakes Island. Good range of restaurants too.

Very comfortable and friendly hotel situated in a quiet street adjacent to Plymouth Hoe. Spotlessly clean, room equipped with hairdryer, iron/ironing board, kettle with coffee, tea, biscuits and TV. Nice breakfast. It has some private parking but plenty of chargeable parking in front of the hotel. It has no lift , I was on the fifth floor and in my late 70's but found it no problem, in fact it made it even quieter! I frequently visit Plymouth and look forward to staying again.

Location was great. Five minutes walk from Plymouth Hoe. Fifteen minutes walk to the Barbican area and harbour. Five minutes walk to the Plaza hotel and Marco Pierre White restaurant. The apartment was stunning. I think the owners had thought of everything. I had a fall when out and about, when returning to apartment found ice pack in freezer which I applied to my arm which helped. It was lovely sitting reading on the terrace of the apartment in the sunshine.

The hotel is in a premier location in Plymouth with some hotel parking but cheaper at the Sainsbury’s next door - in fairness there is a QR code in the hotel foyer to use that car park. The hotel is fine but it’s just a bit tired. The beds are basic doubles which, I this day and age I would expect at least a king size. The furniture in the room was basic. It is all ok but needs a makeover to maintain what should be a premium status that its location demands.

Great location not far from Plymouth Hoe and walkable to the Barbican area . Beautifully decorated boutique hotel with enormous attention to detail . Nods to the past but with a contemporary feel . Extremely comfortable king size bed and the breakfast was excellent . The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful: they were the best hosts I have come across in my travels - and the Pimms we had in the bar was delicious!

The interior and ambiance of the Hotel was really good. I'll probably give them 5 stars for that. The staffs are accommodating and helpful as well. The board games and photo booth at the lobby is also a plus. Definitely coming back here when we visit Plymouth again.
