The Sheep and Penguin is a brilliant, newly refurbished little inn. We had the pleasure of staying a couple of nights there. It's a great base to explore Wells and the wider Somerset region from. Excellent customer service from all of the staff, especially the manager Dan who made us feel completely welcome and gave us some excellent local recommendations. The pub downstairs is fantastic and the food was top notch. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished, with a very comfy bed! We would highly recommend that everyone visiting Wells or Somerset should stay here!

Samir and his staff's welcome is unique among hundreds of hotels I have visited. The experience of an emerald veteran in hospitality has been applied to every detail in this boutique venue. It certainly deserves its five-star reviews! My room was immaculate with modern facilities and plenty of space. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary " true tea " provided among the other delicious sundries in the room, and serves as a distinction and notable effort in comparison to the norm. 10 out of 10, and my thanks to all the staff. The staff were exceptional - Steph Ben and Stuart. Great reception from Steph and morning service from the guys was amazing. The food was fantastic both evening diner and breakfast were the best on our stay in the UK

The hotel room was lovely. Excellent views could see a field of cows right opposite the hotel. Its a good location for cheddar gorge but it is about 3 miles away so a car is beneficial. There doesn’t seem to be any hotels right in cheddar gorge anyway so this is the closest. We did get taxis in the evening so we could have a few drinks and had no issues. Cost only £10 to cheddar gorge on a Saturday evening.
