St Austell is a run down and neglected town hard to navigate and not much to see. Charlestown is a delightful harbor with a good choice of restaurants and bars a bit of a shame that the harbor is being worked on but it has to be done. My friends and I only came to St Austell for the Eden...
My friends and I only came to St Austell for the Eden Sessions which is held at the Eden Project where top artists play live each year this year we saw Biffy clyro and the venue is an amazing backdrop with the biomes lite up at night the one place any music fan should visit . We wanted to visit the Eden project.
We wanted to visit the Eden project. This was the main reason for our visit. However there is a lot to do in this area especially when the weather is good. We visited Looe area. St Austell encompasses a vast array of villages both in land and coastal so a blanket review of 'St Austell' is meaningless. St Austell town has all the amenities you would need but cannot be said to be pretty. However the numerous coastal villages and country house and Eden Project make the area a good base. The dining room has Seaview and it was lovely having breakfast here. Breakfast was an excellent buffet style. Staff were pleasant and well trained. Rooms and whole hotel was spotlessly clean. We had a small double which was actually bigger than expected, although the bathroom was a little tight. Did have a bath however which was good. We couldn’t get a taxi to meet friends in town, but it was only an easy 20min walk to our destination. Hotel had contacted us after booking to advise they didn’t do food and warned that as it was both a pub and an old building on a busy road it might be noisy and gave us the opportunity to cancel if that didn’t suit us - not many places are that fair.
