Host is very friendly and welcoming. The beds and linen are extremely comfortable. The room was large and neat with a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was truly outstanding. If the weather's nice, the garden is really lovely to sit in.

We only came because we were going to a funeral, shepton doesn't really have lots of pubs/restaurants to go to, the bar at the shrubbery and the club were the best.,it's difficult to get taxis, does have Interesting buildings to visit church/prison.

Apart from using the B&B at Maplestone as a base for a two day visit to Longleat, we didn't really explore anywhere else other than visiting two local pubs to have our evening meals i.e the Mendip Inn (twice) and the Thatched Cottage - the food in both was extremely good and the staff in both places couldn't have been more helpful.

Shepton Mallet has some lovely old buildings and much to see of interest in the area. Not much in the way of nightlife but we weren't looking for that anyway. Some of the shops /pubs are sadly empty but that seems to be happening everywhere these days.

The town is nice enough but starting to look a bit run down.

The town is nice enough but starting to look a bit run down. Collet park is nice just off the centre. It feels safe, family friendly. It is very convenient for access to Wells and the palace and Cathedral, East Somerset Railway is great. The prison is worth a visit. It gives you a picture of life through prisons of the 1600's through to second world war executions.

Tired old hotel with rooms with peeling paint, broken cupboards and windows and dirty curtains. Had to go up 4 flights of stairs to get to attic room that was being used by the construction staff renovating the spa. Food was limited choice and of porr quality for the money that was being asked and charged. No phone in the room so had to climb up and down 4 flights of stairs to get any service. Issues not addressed and had to check out early, extremely poor hospitality. Do not tale bookings if you cannot provide a basic level of service.

Shelton Mallet seems to be a good representation of smaller, rural communities in Southern England. Beautiful surrounding countryside and closeness to some additional cities of interest such as Wells and Glastonbury. Several good restaurants were recommended by the owners of the inn. Roads in the town can be a bit tight.

A masterclass in mid century hotel kitsch. A Georgian mansion house where every room is packed with quirky items and personal touches. The hosts are welcoming and quick to rerspond to requests for help or advice. The two huge drawing rooms are available for guests all day and tea and coffee is endless. Just help yourself! This invitaion extends to the bar. Make a note of what you take and pay later. An orangery is a bright welcoming space for complimentary breakfast. The gardens are well equipped for an afternoon's relaxing.

Longbridge House is a truly stunning place to stay. Being one of the oldest buildings in Shepton Mallet, it was full of interesting features and old world charm. Hosts Tanya and Rob were very welcoming and accommodating especially as we had booked so late in the day. Our room was well appointed, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and really set us up for a day of exploring the Shepton Flea. We can’t wait to stay again soon!
