Postbox cottage was easy to find and offers parking outside. The hosts are very friendly and extremely helpful. The cottage itself is modern, well appointed, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is located in a beautiful hamlet with a charming and welcoming country pub only about 100 meters away. There are cliff top walks nearby and it's only a few minutes walk to the picturesque village of Staithes. It's also only a few minutes drive to fascinating town of Whitby.

Lovely cottage in a quiet place. Everything you could possibly need, immaculately clean and extremely nice friendly hosts. Just a short walk to the local pub and there’s a Co-Op nearby. The beach is a short but steep walk away. Would recommend to anyone

We loved our stay from start to finish and couldn't recommend this cottage enough. The cottage was beautiful, very rustic and traditional. The owners had gone above and beyond with making sure everything you needed was in the cottage. There were nice little touches such as deck chairs for the beach, complimentary shampoos and soaps, prosecco on arrival with ginger biscuits etc. All the cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment that you could need, a cosy coal fire in the living area. 2 bedrooms that were very comfy and a good sized bathroom with a bath. The location was stunning and quaint, with breathtaking views around the cottage. We didn't see the owners but we were given all the information we needed about local bars, restaurants and places to visit in the visitors pack. The cottage was very clean and well looked after, we had no issues in the 3 nights we were there.

Staithes is well worth the visit - whether you are a weary traveller, a Captain Cook history buff, or a keen Cleveland Way walker you will enjoy this village. The harbour is interesting. I like the Royal George Hotel more than the other hotels in the village. Nearby towns are Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea - both have heaps to offer.

    Love Staithes.

Love Staithes. Cute little village, couple of nice pubs, shops and a beach. Perfect for my young family having a short break. Not easy to get around if you have accessibility issues though, be prepared for the steep hill to get down into the village. Been visiting for a few years now and will continue to do so 😊

    Perfect (but don't tell anyone).

Perfect (but don't tell anyone). Staithes is a hidden treasure, two good pubs as well as cafés serving food. Crab fishing at high tide and rock pools at low tide. Car parking £8 per day at the top of hill, steep walk down into the village. Not suitable for less mobile persons although it is possible to drive down and drop off but no parking.

Staithes itself is very nice it although it was the Harbour Cottage we stayed that in that spoilt the stay, having to leave a day early because of the awful damp smell in the cottage. Cod and Lobster nice place to eat, food was lovely, also The Royal George food was delicious. No parking down High Street so had to park at top in car park, although allowed to drive down the street to drop luggage off, then drive back to car park.

I loved the quaint, olde world nature of the village.

I loved the quaint, olde world nature of the village. The apartment was comfortable and clean. We ate directly across the street at the Royal George. Excellent meal and convivial atmosphere. Be aware that parking is not available in the town itself but there is private parking at the top of the hill and it is a short but steep walk down into the village.

The views from the property were outstanding g. We were left chocolates and milk by the host who was so accommodating. The wifi didn't work unfortunately, which was one of our key requirements but the host gave us an extra booster to try and sort out the problem. Sadly it didn't work but what can you realistically expect with foot thick stone cottages? This did not detract from the break or the very pleasant and relaxing experience. Will be booking again, for sure.
