Lovely staff great food and fabulos bedroom We got up graded as they were launching their apres ski hut and wanted to ensure we got a quiet night -which looked brilliant fun but not for us two oldies who drank brandy in bed! Fire in the bar very cosy and Stamford is a treat especially on market day (Friday) sadly I had to work !

The location was excellent. The cottage was light and airy, modern but with character. Spacious and well appointed. Spotless and comfortable. Away from the main road, so sitting out having our breakfast was peaceful and relaxing. The host was very helpful, and was very good with clear and friendly communication. We had a lovely time here, and would be delighted return. Can heartily recommend it to others.

    A most beautiful place.

A most beautiful place. Delighted that I booked a Stamford Town Guided Tour for our first morning. Beautiful and contrasted churches.. Disappointed by Burghley House: one had to walk a long way to get a full external view and endless heavy baroque not to my taste. Go to Hatfield House instead! Delightful water meadows, well worth the walk. Shortage of places to eat particularly on a Sunday evening. Evidence of a rich cultural life. If I had to downsize or move Stamford would be high on my list of possible locations

We have often stopped at Stamford on our way north up the A1 - for coffee; for a walk around this delightful town; or get a delicious ice cream; or do some shopping; or exercise the dog on a long trip. The car park in the central park by the river is easy to reach from the A1 and the town has all you need for stocking up a holiday cottage, or for lunch or evening meal. Would recommend a visit to Burghley House and Park if you are staying locally, and, of course, Rutland Water!

Beautiful place - the old architecture is lovely to see , and it is great to see the town hasn't lost it's unique character. It was a pleasure to walk around seeing all the old buildings, and the people I met in the shops made me feel welcome. Being on my own there in the evening I felt safe - long may that continue.

Stamford is very picturesque. The Cotswolds without the crowds. The people are very friendly and helpful if needed. Must pay a visit to the Tobie Norris pub, a step back in time, full of character. Full of historical buildings and churches

It is a delightful town to wander round. The churches are interesting, with lovely stained glass. St. Martin's contains the tomb of William Cecil, Lord Burghley. The George is a great place to dine in style and comfort. The park is lovely. The people we met were friendly and helpful. Lots of super shops.

Beautiful old Hotel in the middle of Stamford. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded by the hotel and had two excellent rooms both with sofas and additional seating .Both dinner ( which we ate outside) and breakfast were great. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and brought to you table not buffet which we liked. Also tea or coffee and orange juice were brought to the room in the morning with a complimentary newspaper. The hotel has lots of areas to sit and relax and beautiful gardens. Staff are all very pleasant & attentive.
