Beautiful cottage in lovely quiet location. Very cosy. Set in a little hamlet on the river, the cottage was peaceful and the kids loved playing in the little stream outside the cottage and the river at the back (a little walk down the road to get into the river). The cottage was lovely and clean, a well stocked kitchen to be able to cook a family meal. Being able to cook on an Aga was a new experience, and having an open fire kept us cosy in the evenings.

The property is very spacious and the location and views are excellent. The outdoor space was also ideal for bringing a dog and allowed him to roam without us worrying that he would stray too far. There was also an impressive array of cooking/cleaning facilities available which made it easy to self-cater for the full week. All the property information was helpfully contained on a welcome sheet and route maps for nearby walks were also provided which was a lovely touch. The owners are also very welcoming and were happy/quick to help whenever we had questions. Really good spot for family/friend stays as the size of the property is very generous and it is good value for money. We will definitely be back!

The location was lovely as was the studio apartment.

The location was lovely as was the studio apartment. However, it was somewhat frustrating to be in a such a special property with some of the smaller detail showing neglect. The crockery should be put in the bin. Also, the pots and frying pan. The 'well equipped' kitchen was somewhat lacking - no potato masher, etc. Having a small wardrobe could easily have been accommodated. Much of what I have mentioned has been said before. It could be a 5 star studio if more attention was given to these areas.

Nice little village about half way between Kendal and Windermere. By car it is only 10 mins to Windermere and 20 mins to Ambleside. Giving you easy access to the Lake District National Park. The village itself has a Fish and Chip Shop and a couple of nice Pubs. While we were there we had a lovely meal at the Eagle and Child Pub which also has a lovely riverside Beer Garden.

Staveley is a little hidden gem in the Lake District . Friendly neighbours, interesting history, good food and drink opportunities. Lovely scenery , clean and well kept. Amazing huge bike warehouse local brewery, coffee shop and post office which also has most delicious rolls for a picnic.dont miss the local butchers for local meat supplies. It has the tiniest theatre ever , but not open during our visit.
