I stayed at this B&B on my way from Glasgow to Galloway Lighthouse. Late check-in after 11pm was not an issue. Parking was available right next to the entrance. Homemade complimentary shortbread and cold milk made my late arrival less stressful. The facility itself is extremely clean and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was delicious and filling.

We booked a self-catering apartment for 7 days & we had the most wonderful time visiting places from our hub in Stranraer. The apartment was so well set up with everything you could possibly need - having a half fridge & small freezer was brilliant and the local supermarket was within walking distance. There was also a petrol station close by. Nothing was too much trouble. There is a huge free open carpark across the street, there were 2 ferry ports for our day trips, there is an elevator, great free wifi and excellent security. All of the apartments are wheelchair accessible too. We were warmly welcomed by the owner Colin and Margaret, her husband and her colleagues looked after us if there was anything we needed or wanted to know. Excellent value and definitely a place we would book again if we ever come back to Scotland. We have no problem recommending this as a fabulous place to stay and, in our 6 weeks driving around Scotland, we can honestly say it was the best.

    There's almost zero reason to visit Stranraer itself; no ferries run from here now. I found one decent shop of interest, the little museam was ok and free. The proximity to the mull of galloway and the rhins was my reason for staying. The accomodation choice was not great, but Royal Hotel was the best option

    Stranraer is a little rundown after its fortunes were affected by the relocation of the ferry along the road to Cairnryan. Much of the harbour is run down with tatty parking bays for ferry vehicles. However there are hidden gems, the swan lido and park by the water, an ACTUAL tourist information office, helpful public library. Decent if rather retro restaurants - Chinese, pizza oven. Museum and castle to visit although check opening hours.

    The ease of everything,service ,location very handy for the ferry, breakfast is first class , we are returning customers .ps if you like smoked salmon you can have it with scrambled eggs for breakfast

    A very nice and friendly town, with everything handy. Would recommend Dnisi coffee and cafe, their scones are great, with a great selection of drinks and food available. Also Baxters, a beautiful shop with goodies galore, definitely worth a visit, and if you are looking for a perfect gift it's the place to go. Had a great night at Stranraer FC bar in the centre of town. A lively and friendly night with Live music, dancing and a sing-a-long. Perfect Scottish hospitality. ❤

    Good location for exploring surrounding countryside.

    Good location for exploring surrounding countryside. Shopping street and buildings in need of help. Henry’s Bay house was fun with excellent food and a view. Some good facilities like the swimming pool although not visited on this trip. Good to be able to visit the Corsewall lighthouse area.

    The hotel was clean, tidy and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were plenty big enough, warm with en-suite. The menu was very good and the food portions big and very tasty . Overall a very good experience. A 10 minute drive from the stenna ferry.

    Looks like a place that is well looked after. Was very comfortable and felt fresh. There was a place to leave the bike in front of the door but also a separate parking place is just nearby. The communication with a host was through the whatsapp which was handy. I was warmly welcomed and the breakfast was very well done (there was a menu the day before) with some artsy touches I could see, the dining room looked spotless and well arranged. I think there was some walking trail nearby as well.

    Great over night stop over on our way to catch the ferry to NI. We stayed in the family room (6) Spotlessly clean room, bathroom and staircase leading to the room. Comfy bed, fluffy towels and fresh smelling bedding. Large shower Easy check in. Easy to find. Takeaways and restaurants near by. 10 minutes drive to both P & O and stenaline ferries Would definitely recommend and stay again.

    The hotel has excellent facilities, with swimming pool gym and even curling. The restaurant was very good with good food and a beautiful and very grand room. The staff were pleasant. The room was a good size. The location is excellent (right opposite the road to the station, near the main bus stops and the town centre and also with free parking). The wifi worked well.

    The suite is more than big enough, with a panoramic, well sealed window, making it near silent. Complimentary whiskey was a welcome surprise, and the proprietor we met is a true gentleman. The Harbour Lights is 5 minutes from the ferry terminal, and staying there made our voyage a stress free experience.
