Tavistock is a beautiful town.
Tavistock is a beautiful town. Steeped in history with a river walk. Drakes cycle/walk trail and the infamous pannier market. There are many places to eat and lovely shops. Tavistock is a lovely old market town, that still has a market - indoors and out. There are lots of places to eat and drink to suit different pockets. We ate well at The Cornish Arms where the staff were delightful. Tavistock is a good place to stay and use as a base to go in many different directions for a variety of experiences. There are fabulous gardens to visit nearby including Wiley at Wildside and the Garden House. There’s Buckfast Abbey, Dartmoor National Park, Plymouth and so much more. The decor is fantastic and interesting and the rooms a lovely size. The view is fantastic, so interesting, from nearby dwellings to the far hills and I could have stayed in just looking at the view. Just a short walk from the beautiful town with very intersting shops and lovely cafe's. The owner was so friendly and had left us crumpets & yogurts & milk and if you have washing up you simply leave in a tray outside for her (there is no kitchen as such but there is a fridge, crockery etc in a tea/coffee area). I accidentally left a wallet and small clothing there and she sent the package straight away which was wonderful. My partner and I travel a lot with his music and we both agreed this is the best place we have stayed in! By the way there is a dedicated parking place.Guest review byDeborah

The property was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. Lovely bathroom and a comfy bed. The kitchen area is small but had everything we needed. We made use of the Shepherd’s hut- a wonderful area to sit and admire the view and watch the wildlife. Viv was an excellent host, offering suggestions for local places to visit and eat. It was also an ideal location for visiting the surrounding areas e.g. Tavistock. Our host Alison was extremely helpful and on hand for any queries. Great position on the bank of the river Tavi with a short stroll into town. Paul was very welcoming and filled us in on local information and recommendations of where to eat/drink- we went to a great Pizza place which was suggested. Room was fine with a very comfortable bed.
