Room was amazing, food excellent ,staff were so lovely and welcoming. One of the best places I have ever stayed brilliant atmosphere. I will be returning very shortly and will recommend to family and friends. Thank you to all the staff.

The room was amazing with a great shower, variety of teas available, coffee, hot chocolate drinks and a couple of biscuits. It was very welcoming. Exceptionally clean. Very friendly staff and host. We had a lovely dinner and a great breakfast.

Didn't have breakfast as had family nearby. However we loved the restaurant for meeting up with friends/family in the area and the carvery was excellent. As was the menu, choice of drinks and staff were so friendly and appraochable. Loved having a bath - absolute luxury!

This was our second stay at this hotel. After our first visit, we didn't hesitate to book again. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were comfortable, and everything you may need is provided. Full English breakfast was perfect.

The ambience. After a bit of a scary moment and a few kerfuffles here and there, the staff and the manager were just the kindest and the sweetest. They cared about my soloness and accommodated me above and beyond. It's not the Ritz, but it was very close as far as the care and attention was concerned. The room was cozy and the lighting great. Beds comfy and decor fancy and thoughtful (depending on room)! Fridge and microwave a bonus. Clean towels and bedding. The balcony is great with views of Clacton pier and the lights if you get those rooms. But mostly the kindness of the staff was the winning point especially the Boss. I felt safe after feeling unsafe because locks do need to be put on porch doors as terraces are very close to eachother and that's important I think if you're travelling solo. I had a fab time though. A very memorable experience.

    Booked for one night before we took the Harwich ferry. Lovely room and only 15 mins from ferry terminal. Friendly reception and food was nice too. Perfect stay! I'll use again if I sail from Harwich.

    A quiet backwater perfectly positioned for touring Essex coast and south Suffolk. Fabulous sandy beaches. Constable country nearby and some grand houses to visit. Also, nature reserves with bird marshes to explore.

    We loved the property and fact not far from Life house hotel...

    We loved the property and fact not far from Life house hotel & spa where we had a lovely cream tea and walked around the beautiful gardens, Thorpe itself had a small Tesco but not much else, but nice little place to visit

    A pretty little village with pubs and restaurants.

    A pretty little village with pubs and restaurants. Quaint old high street but not very well lit at night. We went out for a walk but it was a bit dark in places. Close to coastal resorts and local amenities. We ate at the Rose and Crown (where we stayed) and would recommend it.

    A lovely village pub/hotel. The atmosphere is relaxed and uncomplicated, the staff down to earth and very nice. Ideal to spend the night here if you disembark from the Hoek Van Holland - Harwich ferry in the evening. Can't judge the dinner, because I didn't have it there.

    Overall we thought this was the best place to stay in Thorpe le Soken. A genuinely good traditional pub with lovely staff and modern bedrooms above. Not swanky but all very good. Excellent breakfasts and pie for dinner😀
