The location was perfect, lots of visitor attraction in easy driving distance. The cottage is set in a small town, and had a fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, small Spar shop and 3 pubs, The Goat serves some fabulous food! Colin was so helpful (he lives next door) and showed us around and pointed out things we needed to know.

This cosy cottage with panoramic views over the Welsh and English countryside is idyllic . The facilities are more than adequate and the goodies in the fridge as a welcome gift were delicious. The proprietor is friendly and engaging and very willing to please. We loved every aspect of our stay.

The hospitality was excellent. My partner was walking over 33 miles that day as part of a 12 day walk from Blandford Forum to Liverpool to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. They provided him with a cooked meal later in the evening and a bath which was most welcomed.

Welcoming host. Fabulous clean room with a view of the sheep grazing in the next-door field. Was quiet and calming. Bed was really comfortable with stunning Egyptian Cotton linen. Slept a full night for the first time in ages. Convenient location as shops and pubs just down the road. Breakfast was exceptional.

An ok town, shame as bit of a reflection of the current state of affairs in most British towns these days. Was once I’m sure a bustling and thriving market town. Very handy for walking to the brilliant Powis castle and the local steam train railway too. A few bars and restaurants also.

    Welshpool is a quaint village.

Welshpool is a quaint village. It is not far from Shrewsbury which is a bit bigger and equally charming. Our favourite site was the the Shropshire Sculpture Park - you could easily spend a day walking around the park looking at hundreds of individual sculptures.

I know Welshpool very well, our daughter has lived there for 25yrs. A place came as a lovely surprise our daughter tookus for the day to Portmeirion. The lovely sunny day made ir just a day to remember. I remember The Corn store being nice to eat. We have eaten often in The Royal Oak always enjoyed it there. Charlie's is a nice place to look around very large garden centre with a nice eating place.

We are both fairly familiar with the area, so did not in fact go to Welshpool this time. But it's an interesting little town, check what is the current market day - it used to be very interesting on Tuesdays but may have changed. The area has many interesting features with nice walks , Powys castle and the Edinburgh woollen mill. The comments below relate to the area not just the town. Welshpool itself is really only a few streets so its easy to get round.

Location for us is great for travelling to Barmouth, Lake Vernwy, Llangollen, Oswestry and more. The precise location at Valley View is lovely with the decking space and a suntrap this weekend. The lodge has a spacious lounge and decking area, bedrooms have pretty linen, full bathroom with shower over with a separate 2nd toilet & wash basin. Great mobile phone signal (we're with O2) better than we have at home.

Convenient location with onsite free car parking for guests, good accommodation, great home cooked food and excellent service throughout by reception and service team - light years ahead of the accommodation and service to which we moved on in Tremadog (North of Porthmadog) - wish we had stayed on at the Royal Oak Hotel, but we had bookings on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways.

Lovely old cottage, nice big open kitchen/dining. Fab big garden with loads to explore, great views. Good to have the decked area to sit out. Set on tiny lane, needs own transport. Nearest pubs/food 12-15 mins. Walks from the door in amazing hills, easy drives to local attractions. Welshpool c. 25-30 mins is nearest large town.
