All the staff are very friendly and helpful, and responded to every request very quickly. The lovely woman at the desk sorted out a local SIM card for me, and showed great determination in helping me set up my MiFi device before my work trip inland. The dinner buffet is very good - plenty of salad, tasty fish dishes (as well as many others) and a good variety of fresh fruit.

We had several nights in Pelican hotel. The staff was very attentive, they offer the variaety of breakfasts, lunch and dinner - everything what we tried was delicious. The room has been cleaned every day, the wifi connection very strong. Very convenient that we could pay with card, they also accepted euros and even made the currency exchange. 20 min walking distance from the beach, there are shops around.

To get there you need to get the ferry from Banjul to Barra.

To get there you need to get the ferry from Banjul to Barra. Then Sheriffo will organise a motorbike ride up to the lodge along the beach. The island is lovely and green and quiet. You can visit 4 villages and 2 of them cross the border into Senegal. I would recommend the village visits and the local school. The school is in need of support so do visit and offer any support you can. I loved the island. If you want quiet then this is the place.
