Best taverna in the area would suggest 100% Kyriakakis right on the front, overlooking the sea, absolutely gorgeous. Food delicious, every dish we ordered better that the next. there are lots of good restaurants in Agia Marina. I personally think Sirokos is excellent (try the stuffed squid) and Kalifa and the 2 restaurants on either side of the Kalifa and Kariakakis's restaurant at the end of the main street. They all look onto the sea and the food is good. A beautiful place, with stunning views and a lovely town. The locals were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of fabulous restaurants and places to visit. The beach is there for those whole love the beach, with plenty of beachside bars and cafes. There are bike and quad hire places which make it a great way to visit the whole island of Aegina. Agia Marina is a small, unassuming, friendly beach resort on the opposite side of the island to Aegina Town (which is about 20 minutes away by cab). It has quite a big selection of tavernas, cafes and bars plus a couple of small supermarkets, a bakery and the usual gift/clothing shops. No restaurant we tried particularly stood out but we can recommend the local pistachio ice cream! There is a curving sandy beach which has both a public section and a stretch where you can hire sunbeds (15 euros for two beds and an umbrella). The only sad thing is that a large hotel and apartment complex got half built and abandoned at some point and that does rather dominate the bay but you learn to ignore it. One major advantage of staying here is you can walk up to the spectacular Temple of Aphaia which is really worth the effort (or you can get a bus or cab); there's a small cafe and wonderful views. The temple is beautiful and a highlight of our very enjoyable trip to Aegina.Guest review byJennieUnited Kingdom
