The perfect place for peaceful vacation. The city itself is nice but not something extraordinary, but you get the best food in Greece alongside the best beaches in the World! Try Psarropoula, Kakkos and all other beaches in Ferma area. Lerapetra is not one of the main tourist destinations on Crete but well worth a visit. There are more than enough restaurants and bars along the seafront, with a nice compact centre of town. Only thing to note is that with the closure of Chrissi Island, there are effectively no tourist trips from Lerapetra. Ierapetra -as a city- is not very beatiful, although the beach/port route is quite good. However, it is the perfect place for visiting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including "Kakkos", "Psaropoula", "Agia Fotia", "Achlia", "Psari Forada" and others - since it is located in front of the Libyan Sea. We stayed in Ierapetra for just 24 hours. We found that city was much developed, in a good meaning. Dedicated streets for pedestrians and bikes, updated sea walk area. The house is so beautiful, very clean, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Also, the location is great if you want a getaway from the more touristy part of the island and want to have an authentic Cretan experience. Around Ierapetra, there are lots of beautiful beaches which are mostly uncrowded. The pool areas are fantastic, the pool bar staff were great as we the cocktails and snack. I recommend order all of the Sushi. A special mention for Giannis who looked after us every morning at Breakfast.
