Balito is in the perfect location, with all the facilities needed for a restful holiday and brilliant hosts in the form of George and his family. The small apartment complex is located in the village of Galatas which is just 15 minutes walk from the Kalamaki sea front, giving guests the benefit of both the beach but also the peace and tranquillity of what feels like a laid back and friendly Cretan village - complete with its own selection of excellent tavernas, a coffee shop, grocery store and bakery, overlooked by strikingly beautiful mountains. The building was designed by George's father with clear care. The large and clean pool is to the rear, in a secluded suntrap next to the bar, while the rooms seem to have been carefully designed to stay surprisingly cool, even in the midst of a heatwave (ample air conditioning also helped, but we found it was not necessary all day during our stay). We could not fault the facilities provided in the room, which included everything we needed and more, with the bath/shower room particularly luxurious. We did not hire a car for our 12 day stay as it was not necessary: there are so many lovely beaches within 15-20 minutes walk of Balito, and personally I enjoyed the opportunity to walk and work up an appetite for my next meal! On days we did venture further afield, it was easy to arrange a coach trip, or George was happy to call us a cab. Guests with kids might want to check out the local water park which is just a 10-15 minute cab ride away. We also took the local bus into Chania a few times for shopping and sight seeing trips, although our favourite days were probably those spent in the Balito pool, or wandering down the road to the beach at Kalamaki and then slightly further along the sea front to the ice cream parlour, before returning back to Balito for a night time dip and poolside beer. Bliss!

Staying was really amazing. Stuff was very lovely, helpful and professional. Hotel smells soo nicely. Room was very clean, has Netflix and YouTube subscriptions and fast room service via tablet. Definitely recommended and we will also come back for sure.

The place was very modern. On arrival at the place, we were greeted by professional and friendly staff. They also talked us through the room facilities and gave us a complimentary sparkling wine. The massage therapist Maria was also amazing in the spa sessions. Extremely professional and we felt so much more relaxed after the therapy session :) 100% recommending their spa facilities. We will definitely book again when we come to Chania again.

Super nice personnel. They were so friendly and passionate. We there for a tournament in the sports center next door. Perfect location as it also a nice walk to the Venetian harbor. And the personnel even was excited about me competing. We celebrated a silver medal together.

Samaria Hotel was absolutely fantastic. We travelled to Chania for our honeymoon and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay so special. The receptionists were always smiling and helpful, the valet staff were friendly and quick, the housekeepers did a great job cleaning our room. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the harbor, lots of nearby restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, etc. We would stay here again in a heartbeat (hopefully soon!).

Everything about El Greco is simply wonderful. Location, accommodation, breakfast, facilities and staff. El Greco was also so accommodating when we missed our ferry to Santorini that they happily extended our stay for a few more nights taking extra care of us for the additional days. It is located at the heart of Old Town in Chania, a 2min walk from the parking lot / taxi meeting point, 20min from the city's central bus station, 10min walk from the shopping center and just a 10min walk from Nea Chora Beach (the best part). Next door is an incredibly good restaurant called Kalderimi which is a must-try when in Chania too! Thanks to El Greco for making our stay so wonderfully memorable!

    The most relaxing place, secluded and away from hustle and bustle of main promenade. The apartments are in great condition with balconies overlooking either garden or sea. Pool is blissful. There is a great taverna within 5 mins walk, lovely sandy beach is 10mins walk away. Chania is 15mins drive, beautiful port with old town and market. George is every so helpful and advise on everything from best beach to visit, to live music venues and car rental. He goes even so far as to sort it out for you. Can’t get any better.
