The Neos Omalos Hotel is a perfect example of what this type of hotel, a mountain hotel catering for hikers, should be. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. The food is well priced, tasty and wholesome. The rooms are clean and functional. Finally the price is just right where you feel you're getting great value. I would go back there in heartbeat. I've stayed in hotels all around the world and this is one of my all time favourites. Is it the fanciest of hotels? No. Does it have a bunch of facilities you won't use? No. But the staff will make you feel welcome, the atmosphere is calm and relaxed and you will leave wanting to return. 10/10

It had a really authentic feel, unlike the touristy locations on the seaside. Nothing luxurious, but more than enough for a night or two when visiting Samaria Gorge. The beds were especially comfortable.

The apartments are pretty modern and are perfect for a day of relaxation in the mountains. There are sheep and goats around and you will find everything you need for preparing your own food. A big plus is the tavern of the owner which is located next to the apartments. You can buy food and drinks and the owner is always available for any questions you may have. The service is exceptional and as we went to hike the Samaria Gorge the day the owner gave us a ride to the entrance which is 4km away. 🙏

Best stay in Sougia. The apartments are furnished with class (rock and wood), the bed is comfortable and the location is excellent (close to Sougia but in the serenity of the mountains). Go check out the Rebetiko restaurant in Matala, run by the same family. Amazing food!

Lovely, helpful, friendly hosts, who try their best for their customers. From this town we went to Pachnes, the room had not been reserved on the climbing days. The hosts offered to leave our bags when we returned, the room was cleaned and we stayed another night. We recommend it to everyone who wants to admire the incredibly beautiful view of the mountains and feel the peace of this town. It has no shops or attractions. But it has three pubs and a road through valleys and mountains towards Pachnes. The bar, which is located to the right of the town statue, is staffed by a very friendly bar owner, who also cooks delicious food. If you decide to enjoy nature and stay in these apartments, visit this Cretan bar

Sofia and Adonis are wonderful hosts, extremely helpful and welcoming but you have your privacy. The house is decorated with so much love to each detail. It is very elegant, cousy and clean (you can‘t find even dust anywhere). The view from the window and terace is simply breathtaking. We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help with planning our walk on the Samaria gorge hike and made us feel welcome. We stayed just 2 nights - before the walk and after - which I highly recommend doing. The rooms were so dark and quite and had very comfortable beds so we rested very well. Also, we had to change our dates of the booking, which they did for us without any cost or complication - which was a big plus. Definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in that area.
