There are some rare cases when your staying goes beyond your expectations. There are some equally rare cases when the words or pictures or ratings cannot capture well the feeling you had while leaving the place that hosted you. I have never given a 10 before in my travel life, and I have traveled quite a lot for business or leisure purposes. What makes a 10? I think it is when multiple factors converge in being fulfilled to an uplifting state. What does uplifting staying means? It is when the place can spark emotions, can forge memories in a subtle manner when fulfilling your basic needs. It is for example the feeling of the dropping shower water on your body, the sun rays meeting and flirting with the color of the wall, the smile of the owner while saying goodbye, their eagerness to resolve any unexpected incident, the breeze in the cozy yard that can inspire you to read a book or write a poem or just relax by the pool. From an aesthetic perspective Amente has managed what other hosting places have forgotten in Greece. Respect the architectural tradition while being modern, respect the land space by blending in with its prime colors, so comforting for the eyes. From a hospitality perspective Amente has managed to answer in advance my needs before even expressing then. From practicality perspective Amente has managed to be equipped with all what you need to relax.

Breakfast was delicious (a MUST try!), location was perfect and the staff was extremely friendly/helpful. You can definitely see that a lot of thinking was put into creating this wonderful boutique hotel (very detailed oriented). I would not hesitate to come back!

Excellent hotel in a good location. The staff were wonderful and helped us with onward bookings when Booking.com showed places were unavailable. Fantastic breakfast included in tariff. Very clean with a supermarket across the street Room was very spacious and bathroom was bigger than most. Excellent shower. Plakios was a great town to spend a few days.

Everything was perfect. The breakfast was various and we liked that the breakfast time was 8-11 because we could rest more. The sea is really close to the Hotel and there were free sunbeds. The Staff is also really kind, They packed breakfast for us because we have to check out earlier than the breakfast time. The air condition is okay in the room and also there were free parking spaces close to the Hotel.

One of the best place to stay in Plakias. Check-in and check-out was super easy. Apartment was beautiful, fully equipmented, bed very comfortable. Nice terace. I had only short stay there and they surprised me by perfect cleaning of the room right the day after check-in. Location is perfect. Will definitely come back.

We only stayed here for a day as we had to check out of our villa early in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked the fact that we could check-in at 10am which was earlier than most hotels. It was cheap and worth the money we paid. The bedroom and bathroom were very basic, but clean, and the shower worked well. The location is excellent and is just steps from the beach and restaurants.

    Plakias is a small town, out of the way and just what we...

    Plakias is a small town, out of the way and just what we like. Reminiscent of Katelios on Kefalonia but a much bigger beach, with a quite well catered for naturist section at the southern end with two sunbeds and a parasol for EUR 9 per day or space to bring your own. The central to northern beach is mostly sunbed city but in this case the sand and sun are so hot you really need them. In late August, the sea was mostly calm but the wind can get up and waves got fairly strong at times. I visited the beach bar daily for liquid refreshment and the local beer mamos is perfect and EUR 5 for 500ml(?) seemed fair at this remote location. There is a small section of shops, bars and restaurants at the north end f town. We particularly liked Sofia's restaurant due to it's shorefront location, but we had nice meals elsewhere too. The area round the shops has been prettied up with a colourful fountain that children enjoyed playing in. Although hilly and winding roads dominate the whole region, the main street through town is a steady incline and no problem for most people. Photos are taken from the southern end of the beach.

    Plakias has a very pleasant beach-side walkway, good restaurants close to the beach,, a choice of supermarkets if needed, and a variety of hotels/resorts to suit different budgets. There is also the option of a naturist beach at the eastern end, and various boat or coach excursions are possible. It needs a proper bus station, instead of a patch of waste ground with no facilities as at present. A few years ago there was at least a kiosk from which tickets could be bought and timetable information was available. Bus to Rethymno for a day out costs 5 euro each for a 45-50 minute ride past wonderful gorge scenery.

    There are plenty of places offering food and drink.

    There are plenty of places offering food and drink. We particularly liked Veranda, Ostrako, Sweet Creations and of course we had to visit Takis at Muses who genuinely remembered us from our previous visit 3 years before! Kri Kri, Kyma and Gialos also worth a visit. We did not have enough days to try all of the others! From traditional to modern. A very friendly place. A nice long level promenade which is an easy walk and which has been nicely paved. A long beach but is more shingle than sand. At the far end of the beach you can take the side roads and walk uphill if you need a bit more of a stretch. These connect back to the town. Beach bars and sun beds along the length of the beach but do not clutter it. Short drives to Souda Beach and to Dimnoni and Ammoudi Beaches - you have to have to have lunch at Chyma Sto Kyma at Ammoudi! It can sometimes be very windy on Crete and Plakias is no exception. Sometimes the drains can whiff a bit but you just move on! There are not many things specifically for children to do but highly recommend a visit.

    We were there for three nights.

    We were there for three nights. Village has a number of food shops / supermarkets, sufficient for you to self cater if you choose not to eat out. We didn't visit the village beach but drove east and enjoyed our time there.

    The main beach isn't that great but just a few kilometres...

    The main beach isn't that great but just a few kilometres away at Ammoudia there are three great sandy beaches. There are plenty of good eateries in Plakias, all with great views of the sea, and a few bars. Prices are just right for this area. The scenery around Plakias is breathtaking, even though you can walk from one end of the town to the other on a fabulous level walkway. If you are in a wheelchair like me it is just perfect.

    For us, it is a great place to stay for a short holiday,...

    For us, it is a great place to stay for a short holiday, with a long beach and many smaller beaches close by; quite a few restaurants with good food on the waterfront and more a bit to the back. No museums, no real sights, so we tend to go for a few days at a time only, but if you are into beach holidays, I can not find a reason to leave at all.

    This was our second stay at Plakias Bay in 5 years, improved in many ways from the previous one. The rooms were renovated, the attractive and tasteful breakfast was expanded to a full day service, with lunch and dinner, which is a very convenient addition. As best holiday memories are the spectacular vistas from the restaurant's garden and room's balcony and the nice atmosphere in the hotel when interacting with the owners and the young and friendly personnel.

    The hotel was very close to the beach and we really liked the fact that it was away from the main drag. The beach was beautiful and Plakias is a lovely place to stay. The staff were very friendly (although we didn't see much of them after the first day!). The cleaner came every day and was very efficient.

    We really enjoyed everything. The room was always cozy and clean. The hotel´s location was excellent. We´ve spent a lot of time on the balcony, enjoying the seaview. This is our second visit to Plakias and I´m sure it won´t be the last. We will definitely recommend this hotel to visit.
