Noisy dirty and totally tourist trap. What used to be a charming and cultural rich town has sold its soul to mass tourism. There is rubbish everywhere, plenty of shops that ONLY sell touristic items. There’s nothing authentic left here. Even restaurants are horrible and serve mediocre food. Rhodes has a great mix of the old (medieval town), ancient (stadium), things to see, beaches (city ones are pebbly), shops and, being Greece, plenty of cafes and superb restaurants. We loved Rhodes Town!
We loved Rhodes Town! Our favourite spots were the Old Town, full of history, small shops, and charming streets, and the harbour area, perfect for afternoon walks. We did a day trip to Symi island, which was a highlight, organised, scenic, and very easy to book through the Mitsis Group. We ate most of our meals at our hotel (Mitsis Petit Palais), which had an excellent buffet with theme nights, but we also tried a couple of cafés in the Old Town, lots of great options if you want something local. Getting around is very easy, especially if you stay near the centre. We walked almost everywhere, to the beach, shops, Old Town, and port without needing a car or public transport. For families with young children, Rhodes Town is a great choice. The beach is nearby and safe, there are lots of ice cream spots, and the pedestrian Old Town is ideal for exploring without worrying about cars. Evening activities near the hotels, especially those with pools and entertainment, are great for kids too. We didn’t find anything truly negative, though on windy days the beaches can be a little wavy, not a big issue, but something to note. Overall, the combination of sun, history, organised tourism, and Greek hospitality makes Rhodes Town a perfect destination for families and couples alike.Guest review byGeorgiosGreece - 8.0

The city was clean and pedestrian-friendly, with plenty of restaurant options and shopping opportunities. Most people were polite and helpful when asked for assistance. Rhodes was great.
Rhodes was great. Beautiful medieval city that has lots of charm. Very busy in parts, especially when cruise ships are docked. Food was great and inexpensive. People were very nice. There are good beaches within walking distance of the Old Town. The city has lots of charm and history. The Palace of the Grand Master and walking the fortifications were highlights. Rhodes old town is a wonderful historical place with great shops and great restaurants. It is a short walk to the harbour with lots of boat trips available. It is about 20 mins walk to great beaches situated in the newer town. However it is very,very busy and very hot in the height of summer.
