We stopped here on our way back from Greece. We were only in the center, which we were excited about! The central squares are connected. There is a beautiful Art Nouveau town hall, an Art Nouveau palace and several churches of different denominations. Kecskemét is full of Art Nouveau buildings, museums, expecially about painting, history and design. I've been lucky to stay in this city just during a music/folk/theatre festival at the end of August. Found the place on booking and chose it for the proximity to Budapest and the it was cheap, but there was a reason for it. The land lady was stropy and demanded cash that wasn’t even reflecting the booking.com price. Booked for £77 the land lady wanted €100. She said I should cancel the reservation and pay her cash but cancellation fee was £85. She spoke no English and her underage grandson was interpreting. The place looked dodgy and feeling unsafe.
