Amazing room, very comfortable and cozy; in a hotel surrounded by nature. The hotel is very clean and the service is spectacular. All the staff was very polite and helpful. To highlight the attention received by Wira who was our driver during 2 one-day tours. He was very attentive, giving great explanations of the places we visited and always assisting on whatever we needed to fully enjoy the experience.

A little oasis in Ubud. Perfectly located so that you can easily walk into the town or to the monkey forest but then retreat from the busy streets. The hotel is immaculate and the staff couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. The sunrise yoga on Thursday morning was spectacular and we also had a Balinese massage at the spa which I would highly recommend.

FAQs about hotels in Ubud

Bali's Peaceful Retreat

If you are seeking a hideaway from Bali’s chaotic Kuta, Ubud provides a welcome respite with its secluded paths, calming temples and specialised spa resorts. Surrounded by rice paddies, coconut trees and lush forests of green, Ubud is seen as the cultural centre of Bali.

The road leading up to Ubud features little villages specialising in handicrafts like Celuk (silver jewellery), Batuan (paintings) and Mas (wood carvings). Ubud, itself, produces all sorts of handicrafts in its peaceful foothills. There are also numerous art galleries, workshops and courses on offer for the budding artist.

The Monkey Forest is a popular tourist drawcard with its ravenous monkey population lunging at anything resembling food. The 9th-century Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, showcases the island’s historic past and there is the regular Ubud Market for modern-day souvenir hunters.

Ubud is a place for relaxation and many yoga and meditation centres have developed over the years on Indonesia’s most popular island. Booking.com offers a range of guest houses, villas, bungalows and world-class resorts with spa facilities or pool.

I certainly wouldn't recommend that people drive to Ubud for the day. Big mistake in my opinion. The roads and traffic on the whole in Bali is appalling so to stay for a few days is better to get a feel and experience the area. We enjoyed where we stayed as it was well located for us to walk everywhere without the need for car lifts. We did get a driver for the day, tip is to leave early to avoid too many crowds. We enjoyed our day exploring various temples and waterfalls. Food is fabulous in Ubud. The footpaths are absolutely terrible though. The worst we've experienced :) We suggest whatever you do to try and start early morning. the jungle and walks through rice fields is just gorgeous.

I feel Ubud is rapidly losing its reputation as a centre of the Balinese arts (I have visited Ubud seven times in the last 40 years). The roads are now heavily congested and I am not sure the Balinese Culture is what is attracting the tourists, who now come to Ubud in their droves (I found I was the only westerner visiting a major three-day annual ceremony just outside of Ubud and a major cremation event in the centre of Ubud had very few tourists showing any interest.

The weather is excellent. It is also close to many attractions. There are some wonderful cafes and restaurants. However, the city is overcrowded which causes some frustration. The roads are narrow and walking on the streets is a bit risky. I personally believe that there is nothing to see in the city.

Great warungs in family compounds, great weather, ricefield walks, the ceremonies and rituals, the traditional architecture, so many stalls shops and boutiques, lots of learning courses, beauty parlours, and so safe except for a few motorbike and car drivers.

If you can avoid Kuta and Ubud, do it.

If you can avoid Kuta and Ubud, do it. High season Ubud is hectic and chaotic. Way too much cars and scooters. It is one traffic jam. Driving from International airport to Ubud, approx. 38 km, takes approx. 2hrs. I would walk in Ubud, scooters and taxi are barely moving due to traffic jams. In the evenings there are some nice places with live music. The action stops around 12.00 at night. No 'party hardy' here.

The villa localisation is perfect if you are looking for a remote and quiet area near the center of Ubud. The decor was just stunning with high luxury standard features, and a natural pool that brings just your Bali adventure to real jungle life but with all the comfort and safety. I loved being able to grind my coffee bins in the morning to prepare my coffee and taking showers outside. The staff were adorable and so helpful, the best staff we had from the 6 different rental/hotels we did during our 3 weeks trip here in Bali.

One of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed in. Breathtaking views from the pool and restaurants. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable but the lower villas and rooms have better views over the valley. Staff were personable and attentive. Honestly the best hotel in Ubud in our opinion and highly recommend if you would like to treat yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the Ubud jungle.

We booked the 2-bed villa with private pool, which was away from the main hotel and very private. For the price, it was perfect. It was secluded and huge and had the private pool and garden. Staff were available on WhatsApp and incredibly attentive when needed - see below. Loved the massive terrace upstairs, as well as sitting area below. Water dispenser was a grateful inclusion, as was the kettle.

We had a Deluxe Villa with private pool which gave us lots of space and a lovely calm space to relax after a busy day of activities. The resort was a bit of a distance from Central Ubud area but still possible to walk it and the hotel offered a free shuttle to the centre. Even though it was on a busier road the resort itself felt like an oasis of calm and was very peaceful.

We stayed in the villa with private pool for our honeymoon and loved it. It has a wonderful view over the infinity pool. The rooms are clean and well designed. We loved the landscaping of the hotel. It was like a castle. The food was delicious. It was peaceful to join the morning yoga. If I come again, I would like to stay here again. It is a great choice for a honeymoon.
